Is anyone else offended that our kids in school are using this forum to learn to hack school computers?

It bothers me to see how many kids in school are in here asking how to hack school computers to go to myspace etc with the school computer when they are on computers belong to the school, and using bandwith paid for by the school? how many of them are wanting to go to violent sites, they promote revolution and rebellion, every one of the major violence crimes at schools, the children have been using school computers to organize and communicate, and learn. I send my kids to school to learn humanity and the education to be successful, not to become a criminal, is it just me,

Update:

I guess the main reason I am concerned, is that the schools need to monitor better, there were like 11 kids arrested last week for planning murder, bombing and violence in schools, and were caught through the internet. 2 in my own state, 80 miles away. I would hate to see my kids get killed by some other kid venting.

    Absolutely!

My kids are still in elementary school, but I know that high school is just around the corner. I think it is appalling that kids can learn those types of things here, or anywhere.

I am disgusted at the questions kids are asking on here about sex and the like. I pray that I can steer my kids clear of this kind of filth. They're great, innocent kids so far.

Kids are even having others do their homework on this site! Unbelievable!

I think that the problem is not about hacking, but about the lack of censorship that exists on the internet. The children are just trying to get round the protection that has been put in place to keep the children safe. Not all hackers are bad people, and hacking is not a crime when done in a responsible manner for the right reasons. To be able to hack a computer takes skill and education, so atleast the children are learning something.

    No, not at all.

I'm dismayed initially by the number of "yoofs" who seemingly cannot spell. Apparently, it's "kewl" to spell certain words incorrectly. One girl kept referring to "ma" this and "ma" that. I was wondering what her mother had to with the conversation. Some of the spelling is so bad that I wonder what they are learning in school. Yes, I realize that there are also a lot of non-English speaking individuals here, but you can tell the difference.

Secondly, the number of pubescent teenagers that are apparently only interested in sex is quite disturbing. When 'girl_13' is asking, "hw do i gv h***", I wonder where her priorities lie. It seems that the majority of these kids are learning to be sub-standard human beings with no moral pejorative at all.

We seem to be fostering a nation of children who grow up before their time, don't appreciate the importance of being young while you still can, and underestimate the critical importance of concentrating their collective energies on education and self-improvement. Worse, the number of homework questions that are being asked here is ridiculous. Do they honestly think that, in the workplace, they will find a willing individual to complete their workload? Little wonder that the simplest of questions are either met with out-and-out abuse, or the electronic equivalent of a grunt.

This forum could, and should, be used as a fun environment to meet people, and to learn something in an interesting and novel way. Let the children interact here as much as they wish, but I say they need to be chaperoned and barred if necessary.

You're way too concerned about it. This isn't any worse than kids trying to figure out how to be rebellious when you were in school.

School districts have intelligent people in place that can prevent the kids from getting to myspace while at school. And the primary responsibility for raising kids to become responsible and successful belongs to parents, not to the school.

Did you check to see if they actually got answers, though? There isn't always useful information on here, so they probably didn't get anything.

As far as revolution and rebellion, in the 50's people were afraid that the Beatles were a horrible influence. A little perspective is needed there.

I think you worry a bit too much. Very few people can actually hack. Furthermore, those of us who do have the skills won't teach just anyone especially if the question involves something such as circumventing security. I educate those who work to keep computers secure not someone solely interested in wreaking all manner of havoc.

Which of your numerous questions do you really want an answer for, or did you just want to rant and rave for a while? I havn't seen a single question about how to hack into Y! answers from a school site. And in regard to bandwidth, it would be a negligible amount of usage. If this is the kind of question that you spend your time worrying about and focussing your time on, I feel for your kids. The time could be spent in many other productive ways for their good.

I wasn't aware this is happening and I would humbly suggest that with many kids, it isn't; only with a few of the bad apples. The Answers forum here blocks out profane words. Accordingly there is some way to monitor / edit / censure inappropriate content. Perhaps you should address your concern to the moderators of this and help them to creatively seek a solution. I suppose its possible to ban people that engage in these types of discussions.

Yeah, what are you going to do? I think it's amazing that children are so fluent in computers! I was 30 before I could figure them out. I think they learn alot using them and I DO NOT agree with the My Space thing you're talking about, just saying "Wow, how clever!"
