They've been conditioned by society to think it's somehow 'wrong'. However, more and more men are starting to wear skirts/kilts for comfort reasons.

I am sure that there are plenty men across the world that in some way shape, or form wear a dress. in the U.S. the reason men do not wear dresses as a mainstream piece of clothing is because it is "socially unacceptable"
common, i think it takes a real man to wear a dress... look at the Scottish. no offense to them was meant by the previous statement... and i know it is a kilt, not a dress

No man in his right mind should wear a dress. Has nothing to do with being straight or that's just women's clothing and no mas looks right wearing a dress. It's ridiculous. No sane man would wear women's clothing, unless it was as a joke

Some do! Traditionally only women wear dresses. All part of that females being soft, sexy, fragile, and in need of protection thing. The wearing of pants denotes power-masculine. Peace.

I think something masculine like kilts would be ok. Dresses as we no them now are way too feminine and would just look goofy on most men. They look comfy though.
They probably will come in style someday and maybe our perceptions will change.

And if you may think a man could look good in a dress, then I have two words for you: Monty Python(pepperpots, google pepperpots: images lol)
Source(s): ze Marquee used to wear dresses, but we call zem Kilts. in any language:), no? - 2 decades ago
I think because their packaging makes this attire difficult in severe heat when having to work.

because of what others would say, and because it just looks gross.
kilts on the other hand are fine with me, as long as it's a "masculine dress" it's okay..lol.
I just think it looks ridiculous myself. But hey, a hundred years ago, so did a woman in pants. who knows what tomorrow will accept.

Because it is`nt necessary for men to have easy access to their crotch.I won`t go into why women started wearing them it may embarrass some younger viewers.
