Do you believe you should pay for any crimes your father may have commited, or any debt he may have incurred?
What about your Grand Father? Should you pay any outstanding parking tickets and library fines old grandpa had plus sixty years of interest?
Well according to the law you are responsible for what you do; not what people you are associated with do. In other words, there is no collective responsibility.

I don't want to get off into, the whole reparations thing.
But I will comment on some of the ignorant comments I have read on this site. "Just get over it and move on". I'm sorry but its not that easy to get over it and move on when racism is still alive and kicking in the world, and it damn sure isnt easy to get over, when I hear the sadness in my grandmothers voice as she tries to tell me how her mother (my great grandmother) was treated when she was younger, so sorry its not a "just get over it type of thing".
So many civil rights leaders have died trying to stop this whole racism thing, and yet it still happens right now as we speak.
So did they give their lives for nothing? for us black people to say oh just get over it, it was a long time ago? I dont think so.
Life was so tough for blacks before they started passing all the laws. Yes everyone in the world has had strife at some point or another, but you werent forced to clean up after someone or get tied to a tree out back, and get whipped for being disobedient. You didnt have to worry about your master hanging you one day because one of his friends thought it would be funny to see a N***er, be hanged.
No it doesnt happen like that anymore because we have the law to protect us now, but it happens in many other ways.
And for you to say that freedom is the first installment is absolutely rediculous, our ancestors didnt ask to be slaves, they didnt ask to be beaten, they were human beings just like the next person, so freedom should have already been there, its not considered an installment or some kind of favor. People need to open their eyes to whats going on in the world today
Source(s): I am African American, and one of my friends told me that her son (whos 5 years old and also african american) came home from school one day, and told her a joke that one of his friends at school (a caucasion kid) had told him, the caucasion kid asked the AA boy, do you want to know what apples and black people have in common? and the AA boy asked what and the caucasion boy said they both should be hung!!! Now where on earth could a 5 year old kid get that from, other than his parents??? WAKE UP - 2 decades ago
No. Its as silly as arresting me because my great great great grandfather murdered the mayor with a pitchfork (actually, true story). There is no connection, except that because of the actions of the ancestor, we are here in the US today. Sorry to say, but I think the blacks here have it much much better than the Africans.

I think some would be of the the opinion that they would need to get in line behind the Native American Indians and those in the islands near America.

Oh give it a rest already. We have all heard about your strife, but do you think your the only people of the world who have suffered? Who have ever been enslaved? Let it go and move on, we're all tired of hearing this excuse.
