How much does an LDS mission cost?

I mean, is there a standard rate? Or do global vs. United States missions cost more?

whynotaskdon is totally misinformed. It is a flat rate. People going to France will need way more money than those going to Honduras. But the church makes it a flat rate, and its distributed evenly. I dont know the exact cost. If you dont have enough saved, keep working til your mission (if you are the one going on one) and also, if you dont have family or other means to help you out, your bishop will work with you. And its not a 20% tithing, its 10%.

Every mission has a different cost but when the Bishop collects a 20% Tithe the money ads up fast.

The profits from the Pepsi -Cola Corporation must be astronomical too.

It used to be that there was a different cost depending on where you got called, but now there's a standard rate. I think the $400/month figure might be right, but check with your bishop or branch president to make sure.

The 10% tithe does not pay for missions. It mostly pays for new construction and for helping those in need. My son went on a mission to Italy a few years ago. it cost $400.00/mo., payed by friends and family, not the church.

The church does not and never has owned a cola co. They did own a coke(sp) mining co., as in rock.

I think they are $400 a month regardless of where you are sent. If the family cant afford it, the church will help pay. That's part of what the 10% tithe goes too.

Source(s): My friends family couldn't afford to send her, because they had just sent her brother, so the church helped pay for it.

You mean an LSD mission? About a dollar or two. But they're called "trips" not "missions"

It looks like there is a reason not to ask whynotaskdon.
