I agree, I read Good Omens and it's a feel good witty book

All these three are very funny, but I actually would recommend Nick Hornby's About a Boy. I don't know if you've seen the movie or not but it's based on that book and it's absolutely hilarious. I loved it, laughed so many times at his arrogance and self-centered-ness and had great fun =)

I have found that when depressed, I don't want to think deeply. Dave Barry fiction as in Deep Trouble is ideal. Get Hitchikers on tape from the library, original radio play and it's better than the book which is far better than the movie. Good luck and best wishes

Running w/ scissors is not funny, it's a biography. It's about a teen finding out about his sexuality. (Homosexual)

Hitchhikers guide .... is a sci-fiction book often found on teenagers summer reading list.

I recommend No 1 Ladies Detective Agency or any of the books in this series because they are comical! I also liked curious incident of the dog

Good Omens is genius but the Hitchhikers Guide is funnier.. I've never read "running with scissors". I myself, for a good giggle, love Tom Robbins

Good Omens is pretty good, But my most fav. is a series of books by Janet Evanovich-Steohanie Plum series about a female bounty hunter VERY funny I've read all of them a couple of times and I stll lmao- by the way why don't you join a library for free and check out a bunch of funny books and save yourself some $$

You don't need to buy them, go to the public library and get a free library card. Ask the librarian to show you the humor section (it's in the 800s area). Bring home an armload of Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry, Bill Bryson and whoever else you find there.

Don't forget to check the cartooning section (790s, I think) for Garfield, Cathy and your favorite comic strips in book form.

Some of the Chick Lit is pretty funny too, especially the Shopaholic series.

This book made me and my sister laugh soo hard that we almost peed our pants... I can send it too you if you want.

My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler

she is a tv star on Girls Behaving Badly and she has her own talk show on comedy central. she is a gifted comedian. her book is about all her one night stands and horribly bad dates that she has been on before she found her true calling with acting, but the way that she words things and uses metaphors and similies is superb... even if you read something else, or don't pick this as best answer, promise me that you will read it and laugh and then email me at erin_loves_potter@yahoo.com to let me know how much you loved it.. ok?

Read the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich, start with 1 and read them all:

    One for the Money

    Two for the Show

    Three to get Deadly

    Four to Score

    High Five

    Hot Six

    Seven Up

    Hard Eight

    To the Nines

    Ten Big Ones

    Eleven on Top

    Twelve Sharp

Trust me on this, you will laugh(Damn near drowned myself reading 10!)(was reading in the bathtub)

They are good choices, but try A Confereracy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole--it's got a bit more literary thought behind it (won the Pulitzer) but it's got some great pee-your-pants funny stuff in it.
