Is there anyone in Heaven?

I heard a passage from the Bible that said that all of the people who have died will rise from their graves for some reason or other and THEN go to Heaven after the Second Coming. It's the one where their bones put on flesh. Does this mean that no one has gone to Heaven yet?

Please cite the passage, if you know it. Revelations, I think.

Non sequitur. There is no heaven, no hell, and no gods. When you're dead, you're dead.

Long story- pictures would work so much better... do you have yahoo's IM? I could show you what's going on... at least according to my belief...

    Well, how 'bout this...

When we die, our bodies are separated from our spirits. The body goes into the ground (or is burnt in cremation), and the spirit goes to "heaven" or "hell"

Thing is, that's not the end of the story. God is merciful, and has set it up so that even those who've never even heard about Christianity will have an opportunity to accept Jesus.

Then there will be a "resurection"- this is that part about the bones rising- We will get our bodies back. Our bodies will be perfected, and something about "not a hair of their heads will be lost".... Not sure on that reference, but...

Next/last is the "final judgement". Yep, here's the (possibly scary) part. We will be judged by God and Jesus (yes, I believe they are 2 separate People). They will judge our works, our hearts, etc. They will judge us by our beliefs, cultures, etc as well... again with the mercy thing. They will assign us to one of 3 places (sometimes refered to as "heavens")- one place for those who accept Jesus (and act like it), another place for "good people" who don't accept Jesus, and a third place for truely evil people.

    Revelations 7 and 14.

No one has risen to heaven yet. After judgement day, 144,000 men (yes, men only) will go to heaven. These will be saints, never having been intimate with literal women, hence, will be literal virgin men. They also have to belong to the 12 tribes of Israelites. Gentiles will not be welcomed. Pretty selective membership.

So there you have it according to John in Revelations. (Also note that the writting style of John in Revelations is much different from the style in his earlier book. They are either 2 separate Johns or John wrote Revelations in his late 90's).

Jolly has it right. Better to just stay dead.

You go to Heaven when you die and if you are a Christian. I think maybe that is just saying the bodies will meet the souls because when Christ comes again and people that have not dies yet will go to Heaven full body obviously - I think it is just to let everyone else know how many people actually believed. I am not sure, but I am quite sure the souls of Christians are already there.

Check out the Parable of Lazarus (the beggar) and the Rich Man in the gospels.

Refers to Lazarus being with Abraham (apparently in heaven).

Also Paul says, to be away from the body is to be present with the Lord (in heaven)...

    Cordially,

You are on your WAY!!!!! Good for you! Pray to God the Holy Creator in Jesus's name, for the Holy Spirit to come upon you. (after asking forgivness of sins of course) Also, pray to God for true understanding of the scripture! Godspeed!

Our souls go to be with God, but our bodies stay here. Then, on the last days we'll be reunited with our flesh, to my understanding.

There are several.Enoch, Elijah, Moses, and many that Jesus took as first fruits. They were resurrected when he was. It in the gospel. Then it says they were taken up in His train.
