  • Are people more sensitive to mold, or are people just less accustomed to deal with it?

Every time I look at answers in DIY, somebody's ranting about the seriousness of mold. How has mankind survived for this long without some natural mechanism to deal with common mold? Surely our houses today are not MORE moldy than houses 500 years ago, or even 70 years ago, yet we act like mold is some new phenomenom that the human species has never had to deal with before. Are we just becoming *******?

I think that the less clean the environment that a child grows up in, the less susceptible they are to benign allergens, like mold, dust, etc. We are producing a generation of asthmatic, hypochondriacs, looking for a sterile environment which doesn't exist. All these cleaning products, hepa filters, and anti microbial sprays fails to inure our kids to the most commonplace antagonists in our environment. In other words, is cleaning killing our kids?

  • Christians in Arab countries?

If Islam is all about 'convert or die', then why are there still so many Christian Arabs? These are Coptic Cristians who've been in these countries since before Islam came into being. I would think that if they wanted to kill or convert everyone on the planet, they should have succeeded in their own countries after 1400 years.

    Egypt: 10-12 million

    Lebanon: 1.5 million

    Iraq: 1 million

    Syria: 1.2 million

    Sudan: 6 million

Saudi Arabia: 1/2 - 1 million Catholics (mostly foreign workers from the Phillipines)

Christians are also in Iran, Jordan, Israel, Turkey, Algeria, and every other Muslim country. Granted, they are being persecuted in most of these countries today, but they've been there alongside Islam for 1400 years. How is that possible if Muslims are commanded by the Qur'an to kill all non-Muslims? What happened to 'spreading Islam by the sword'?

  • Through the door ice maker/water?

I have a GE refridge with through the door icemaker and water. When you put a glass in there and select water, it doesn't shut off. The water will run continuously. As far asI know, if you leave it on ice, it will just make enough to fil the hopper and stop. The water is obviously the problem. What do I need to do to fix it?

  • Por Latinos solomente?

I work in construction and work with many Latinos. One guy has been in the US for 7 years and doesn't speak a lick of English. Another has been here for four years. When I ask the ones who do speak English, they tell me most Latinos don't want to learn. Why is that?

  • Why do people think that the war in Iraq has anything to do?

with their freedom? Only the government can threaten your freedom. Is al qeda trying to abolish the Bill of Rights? Sure they can threaten your life, but how are they threatening your freedom? (except your freedom to live, that is)

And while we're at it, why do people think that we are fighting 'them' over there so that we won't have to fight 'them' over here? At least 90% of the people that we fight over there are insurgents (Iraqi rebels). Foreign fighters are a small minority of the opposing forces, and most of them only joined the fight BECAUSE we invaded Iraq. If it wasn't for the invasion, they'd still be herding goats in Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, etc. Now they are killing Americans and Iraqis. How does this mesh with the 'fighting them over there' theory.

Do supporters of the war realise the fallicy of their logic, or do they just not care? Did you fall for a political slogan, or did you really put some reasoned analysis into forming your opinion?

  • Who came up with this crap?

Why does the Army now say 'hooah' like a bunch of fags. When I was in the Army, you said it like you were karate chopping someone. Like it was coming straight up out of your testacles, not your vagina. Nowadays, an NCO will say something and then ask, 'hooah?', and all the troops reply with a halfassed, 'hooah'. If the guy next to you still has an eardrum, you didn't say it right.

So take your right hand, grab your crotch, AND SOUND OFF LIKE YOU'VE GOT A PAIR! (Women can just mouth the words. The louder you yell, the more annoying it sounds.)

    Carry on.

  • Why do people freak out about curse words?

How do the words that another person chooses to use affect you in any way whatsoever? If YOU choose not to use such words, that's fine, but how do your sensibilities come to affect another's free speech?

I try to temper my speech at work if someone asks me to, but if a cuss word or two slips out, that's tough ****. If they can't handle it, they can get back in their truck and go the **** home.

  • Why would you ask these people anything?

Why does every question get an answer that says to ask the guy at Home Depot or Lowe's (if you can find one of them)? Those people don't know theirass from a hole in the ground.

If those guys knew anything, they wouldn't be working at Home Depot for eight bucks an hour, now would they?

  • Is nuclear power a safe alternative to fossil fuel?

Assuming that there are no accidents, what is the downside to nuclear power generation? How much toxic waste does a nuclear power plant generate over its lifetime?

Would we be saving the atmosphere at the peril of the terrasphere? (I think that I just coined that term, but feel free to use it in dissertations and such.)

When I hear George Bush promoting nuclear power, red flags automatically go up.

  • When did America become so pro-Semite?

It wasn't that long ago that Americans were calling Jews 'Jew bastards', and accusing them of being commies (or at least socialists). We've always considered Jews suspect and inferior. When did the American attitude change?

We sent boatloads back to Hitler, even though we knew they were being persecuted. We accused them of controlling the media, the banks, and Hollywood. Nowadays, everyone is such a champion of Irsrael and such kindred spirits with Judiasm in general.

I have nothing against Jews. I grew up with Jewish friends. It was always the ignorant rednecks that hated them 'for killing Christ', now they are their biggest supporters. How did this come about? It's only happened in the last 20 years.

I know the government has always supported Israel, but I'm talking about the cheerleading from average Americans.

  • Am I supporting our troops?

if I buy a $3 car magnet from the Indian at the convenience store? Is that all it takes to say I support the troops? What concrete measures do the people who sport those stickers take to actively support them, or do they just give lip service? I think that they're mostly just supporting the Indian guy at the store and the Chinese factory that churns out those stickers.

  • How many Commandments are there?

If Jesus is God incarnate, doesn't it violate the first commandment to make graven images of Jesus (God) on the cross or statues of him?

The first Commandment seems pretty straightforward, so how does Christianity rationalize this?

  • For Black People Only?

If racism is a problem in America, why do black people exacerbate the problem by naming their children in such a way that tells everyone their race? Doesn't naming your child Shakira, Shaneeka, or Aquanetta put them at a disadvantage when it comes to applying for a job in racist America?

Are you willing to endanger your child's future for the sake of in-your-face pride?

  • Is there anyone in Heaven?

I heard a passage from the Bible that said that all of the people who have died will rise from their graves for some reason or other and THEN go to Heaven after the Second Coming. It's the one where their bones put on flesh. Does this mean that no one has gone to Heaven yet?

Please cite the passage, if you know it. Revelations, I think.

  • Does the word 'Allah' literally translate as 'God' in English?

Is 'God' the literal translation of the Arabic word 'Allah', or does 'Allah' mean something else.

And, yes, I know that Allah IS God, that's not the question. I'm asking if 'God' is the only translation.

  • Muslims - Why do you say 'Allah' when you speak English?

If Allah means God in Arabic, why not call him God when you speak English? That would diffuse a lot of enmity that Christians feel towards you.

  • Blurred reflections in mirrors.?

I am near-sighted. When I look at a mirror without my glasses, objects in the mirror are as blurry as if I looked directly at them, even though the mirror is right in front of me. Why is this? Objects closer to the mirror are clearer, while those farther away are more blurry.
