Best announcers in baseball- 2 parts?
I was watching the Mets-Phillies on MLB.TV and the Philly TV announcers made me want to take a nap. It made me realize how great the Met duo of Cohen and Darling/Hernandez are. Who do you think the best announcing team in baseball is?
Part 2:
After listening to Michael Kay and John Sterling for years, I have realized that being a "homer" is no longer looked down upon when it comes to announcers. More recently while watching the Nats, I noticed that they were actually rooting for he Nats, they didn't even try and hide it either. So the question is, are announcer expected to be bipartisan anymore? They used to act as a neutral party, but now it seems like they cater to the team that signs their paychecks.
I meant the Nats announcers were rooting for the Nats, so for the ambiguity

Easily, radio announcers for Cubs. Pat Hughes and Ron Santo. If you have not listened to them before, do it. You will agree easily. I listen to every game even when the Cubs are doing bad. I also like Vin Scully in LA.
I think every teams home town call is a little biased. They are practically part of the team. They travel with them and converse with them on a daily basis. They only time I disapprove of a bias is when it is a national broadcast.

1. cohen is the best around I must admit. hernandez is great only because he doesn't think before he talks. some of the crap that comes out of that guys mouth is priceless.
i don't know who the best is, but as a yankee fan I know Michael Kay is the worst.
2. I've noticed homerism from almost every announcing duo out there getting the random game here and there on HD channels. Lived in Boston for a while a few years back and McDonough wasn't bad up there on TV. Can't say the same of Remy.

First of all, homer or not, I cannot stand Michael Kay's voice or his "see ya" calls. I only listen to YES when Murcer, Kaat or Singleton are on w/o Kay. I could care less if the guy was a homer...just give me an interesting and colorful guy. Another bad one is the White Sox's Hawk and his "you can put it on the board...yes!"
The best is Vin Scully of the Dodgers hands down. He is so good they don't even have a color guy! His voice is the perfect tone for baseball.

I think Dan Shulman is one of the best announcers. He used to do Toronto Blue Jays games years ago and was great. Be happy your not from Canada and a sports fan because all the announcing is the furthest away from being biased it could ever be
It sucks sometimes to tune into your local teams' broadcast and have them be soooo impartial. Just a hint of knowing their majority audience is cheering for their team that they are broadcasting for would be enjoyable.
