Pepper is a source of vitamin A which in large amounts can cause some birth defects but they are mostly referring to supplements. Vitamin A in the form of betacarotene is safe and that is what you will find naturally in foods such as peppers and carrots.

I am not a doctor. I do not see why you cannot spice your food with cayenne pepper. The supplements are probably not good for you as it is too much of some of the non water souluble vitamins. Consult your doctor if you use ALOT of cayenne in your cooking.

it would give you heartburn if your not into spicy foods. i ate buffalo wings for brkfst-lunch-and dinner when i was pregnant w/ my first baby, but towards the end of my pregnancy when they did the last sonogram. my obgyn said he noticed that the baby had some abnormalities. that spicy foods can cause heart murmurs in an unborn child. so i quit cold turkey. my son was born healthy. so i'm glad i listened to his advice .so ask your doctor and stay safe. congrats!!!

You can use it in moderation as a spice in cooking but understand that it may give you heart burn.

yes you can but if you are not in the habit of eating hot-spicy foods then I would suggest just add enough for the taste and do not overdo it!
