Does anybody else have a fussy cat?

My feline is very temperamental when it comes to wet foods. Whiskas makes him sick as it is too rich. Shops own brands are a sniff and walk away. Felix and Arthur's don't ask!!! Kitty-Kat - definitely NOT. Doesn't leave me much else and what I can get the other cat doesn't like. Is mine the only 1?

I've got 3 cats. the 2 we've had from kittens get fed up with whiskers and we have to get felix or something for a change, but they're not too bad. the other was a stray and she'll only eat the dry stuff, usually go-cat. we've got a dog as well so the dry stuff goes on the kitchen windowsill and the wet on a cupboard - this saves dog from stealing and keeps the cats apart while eating (less fur flying)! I like it that cats are fussy, I love their independance. My oldest tries to stand on my plate sometimes but he's just a ratbag!

I have a fussy cat but it doesn't involve food. When I got my Maine Coon cat, he was 4 1/2 years old and had 2 previous owners. The first gave him away when he was a year old, flea-ridden, fur matted, ear mites-the whole mess. The owner before me didn't tell me in so many words why she was giving up the cat-just hinted around about the litter box. When I got Baxter, he came with one of those hooded litter boxe and special wheat-based litter, which I continued to supply. The darn cat would wet in the litter box but do the other on the rug in front of the box. I called his owner, left the solid waste in the box, cleaned it the minute he used it-nothing worked. I doubt he was ever completely trained. The I decided to try something. A Maine Coon is a large cat-the litter box was small and hooded. First, I discarded the hood. Then I bought another box-xtra large size and put it where he had been soiling the rug. Magic!!! Now, he uses both boxes-one for wetting, one for his other business. I also switched to a cheap clumping litter-no accidents. He knew what he wanted and I was the one to figure it out!

Oh yes very! She is such a pampered pussycat! our Purrdi

My fella even gets up at 8 every morning and defrosts prawns for her!!!

She used to b an outdoor cat and ate nything but has got a lot more fussy in her advancing years turning up her nose n tail n stalking off in a huff of fluff!

we tried several varieties including iams and other dry mix Olli and Purina 1 but she ended up a sturdy purrdi! lol! as she got rather bloated. She only gets a little drop at night now.

The best moist catfood is as good as it looks felix and the roast pouches as she does not leave any and goes back later too when the kitchen is less noisy

I sometimes think she does it for the fun of it and would actually eat if we did not fuss so much but we give in too easy! Good luck with your purrbag

Source(s): 4 moggies over the years all different!

Who is the boss, you or the cat??

Find a dry food that the cat can eat without getting sick. Feed it once a day, usually at your bedtime. In the morning throw out uneaten food.

Your kitty may loose a bit of weight at first, but cats survive. They never starve themselves. They eventually adjust.

This is tough love and you have to be tough because you are the boss. It may take a few days to acclimatize kitty, so be patient.

The cat will easily survive this treatment.

Remember you are the boss, not kitty. Never beg. A cat doesn't understand begging. A little tough love can go a long way.

My cat had the same problem and a lot of foods actually made him sick. We tried Special Kitty Urinary Tract food which they sell at wal-mart. Our vet recommended it because it doesn't have all the dyes and it isn't the rich seafood flavor. The best part is that our other cat likes it too. They both enjoy it and just gobble it up. also for a change for our cats we got some of the Pounce brand treats. They really like them and it is a good change for our cat that doesn't have the eating problem.

My cat "Harry" only eats Iams cat food. The dry food. It is the only thing he has ever eaten and he is 10 years old. He is very healthy and still playful. You can moisten dry food with a little bit of water if you need to. You can also go to places like Petsmart or Petco and ask for samples of different cat food. Good luck!

I think yours is not the only one. (My own kitty eats literally whatever I put into his bowl, including that experimental peanut; deffinitely prefers canned food to kibbles, but will eat any brand - and has not yet, I am thankful, ever thrown up yet). You can take some looks around www.catinfo.org - very good advice there, some good brands of food, and home recipes too. It can give you some clue as to what to look for in food, etc., etc. It's a good source of info.

Try Science Diet, they do a dry and a wet food, you can get it from vets, Petsmart, or whatever they are called these days, my cats love the dry food, and it lasts a long time, too!

Royal Canin is also a good one, they do specialist foods for fussy cats, and ones with delicate stomachs, I bet they have a web site if you did a search on them.
