Have you ever asked a question you regretted asking?
On this site or in 'real' life.... what was the question and why did you regret it?

Yes - in Real Life. But I decline to repeat it - it was too painful for them to hear (and, for all I know, they could be online now).
I regret it because it caused someone unnecessary pain - they did NOT have to go through that. It was wrong for me to do that...
I WILL say it forced me to remember to remember the statement, "Keep your eyes and ears open - and your mouth shut!"

There are plenty of "real life" gaffes that I've made that are too numerous to count. On Y! Answers, I recently asked a question that I wish that I had asked in a different way. It was a question about the relevance of the Third Amendment, and I was trying to make an odd point about it by suggesting that it be repealed in over to boost troop morale.
Needless to say that I got a lot of vitriol on that. I suppose that if I had it to do over that I would have indicated my intentions better, so in that way it's a regret.
Hope that's what you are looking for.

I don’t know if I should be answering this question when I’m PMSing but…
Yes, I have done it many times. The most recent question I regretted asking was in “Jokes & Riddles” section on this site. I felt that the majority of the askers were posting jokes they found on web and the majority of the “participants” were only answering if it’s funny or not instead of sharing their knowledge or feelings related to the subject. So I posted a question asking, ‘Has anyone experienced a funny coincidence?’ and also described my experience so that people would understand what I’m talking about, then ended my question with ‘Now let me hear yours.’
Guess what the answers were…
‘No, I don’t have that experience.’
-> Then why did you even click the “Answer this Question” button? Are you here just for the 2 points here and there instead of helping out or communicating with people?
‘Did I loose sense of humour or what? I don’t find it funny.’
-> I’m not asking for your opinion about my story. I want to hear your experience.
‘Sweetie, it’s not funny’
-> First of all, I am most likely older than you and don’t call people “sweetie” when you are not sure of their age. And, again, I’m not asking for your opinion about my story! I’m asking for your experience!
(… sigh …)

Here on Answers - no. In 'real' life - plenty. Last question: want to be my sex friend? Reason for regret, she really is a good friend and I hurt her by asking this.

Yes, in real life.
I regret asking my second former wife to marry me again.
I regret asking her to marry me again because it turned out that I was only thinking of myself. I loved being married. She didn't.
Had I been thinking of her I would have kept my mouth shut.

No, I never regret anything. Anything you think was a mistake is still a lesson learned.
