A proud example of Christian values?

I found this interesting story. Starts off as:

Canada's only major Arctic petroglyph site -- a 1,500-year-old gallery of mysterious faces carved into a soapstone ridge on a tiny island off of Quebec's northern coast -- has been ransacked by vandals in what the region's top archeologist suspects was a religiously motivated attack by devout Christians from a nearby Inuit community.

This seems to be a traditional repsonse, in line with both Christain and Taliban repsonses to percieved competition. Comments?

Just as with any other religious or non-religious fringe group for that matter... the actions of a few do not speak for the majority. I do not worship the ancient Egyptian gods... however I can stand in awe at the artistry and craftsmanship of the statues that remain today.

Remeber friend.... not everything that is done in Gods name..... is God ordained.

Why do you say that it was Christians that did it? Not everyone that calls themselves Christians are. There are other petroglyphs around and they are not ransacked by others. There is a tolerance for things native in Canada and while Christians may not agree with every written thing , they do leave wellenough alone.

How very sad not to have respect for art and history. Now people want to change the beliefs of people who aren't even around anymore?

I think you're forgetting, though, that these are clearly not representatives of true Christianity. They are the exceptions. Sad, sad little exceptions...just like the Taliban. Some exceptions are just more powerful than others.

    ROFLMAO

G * I do wish they would not call them Christian.

As a true Christian I would have loved to see them all. I think it would have been great!

What a loss, what a wast!

That's why I call them Xhristians

there better than nothing but sometimes I think it would be better to have nothing!

There are fringes of every sector. We Christians are not above having fringe movements. Sad though.

Sir, they have been picking on us since they got here in 1492. They may not answer to us but they will answer to God.

That's shameful and not Christ like.
