What were you doing Aug. 29th 2005?? I was floating in Salt Water from Hurricane Katrina in Waveland, MS.?

It's been a year. Tomorrow morning at 9:00AM my husband were floating on an ice chest during Hurricane Katrina! I'm so thankful we're still alive. Waveland, MS is gone (all you hear about is New Orleans) and it's so sad. We're still dealing with this tragedy. I honestly can say we'll never forget this even as long as we live. God bless everyone!

Update:

...my husband and I were floating....

Update 2:

Thank you all for responding! Makes me know there are people out there that really care! Godloveyaall!

August 29, 2005.....Waveland Ms is gone....I cry everytime I ran down that way. I am about 35 minutes NW of you. The homes and lives ruined....We played a highschool football game at Tiger staduim last year after the storm, and the pride and the courage that was shown that night.

People these football players were wearing borrowed uniforms. The cheerleaders were mismatched....The parents and the school refussed our offer of coming to our staduim which was only slightly damaged, they want us at their home. I never felt so much love and pride for a community till I shed some tears. The a National Quard band group played and entertained us....That's when the TV camera's should have been rolling, because to get to that ballfield, we had to pass dozens of homes, with what belongings they had left out on their lawns. Washers, dryers, tvs, clothes, precious pictures and what-knots ruin by Katrina's waters and winds.

I am sorry, I didn't answer your question, but I wanted to tell anyone that say "I am tried of hearing about Katrina" well you haven't heard the right stories...

I was sitting on my porch watching my trees fall after being battered by the winds and rains. Watching the neighbors shingles and roofs blow away. Running like a crazy woman, when the tree crashed into my house. Standing in my garage, wondering if we were insane for staying...We are so blessed, the trees didn't claim our house, it's fixable. My business has suffered, but I have yet to give up...just like the people of the Coast and LA...Katrina might have won the battle, but we will win war; especially with examples shown by the people in Waveland.

    God bless us all............

I was at a friends house in P'ville MS waiting to ride out the storm. It was about don't know the time exactly when we got a phone call to my fiance his stepdad and your grandpa are climbing in the attic whole house flooded. his cousin was in a 2 story about a mile north of the tracks and had to climb in the attic. click phone lines went dead. It was crazy. We were worried during the whole storm. We stayed because we thought it was going to be like any other storm. They didn't get down to waveland(lakeshore area untill after 12 the next day and found everyone safe. Where we stayed we all had four wheel drives if we didn't then it would have taken us over a week to get out, my friend lived in his own secluded area, we were going to stay at our house for some reason we decided not to.

his grandpa rode out camile in the same house and was like this house held up then and nothing could be worst than camile. He disagrees with that statement now. camile they only got no more than 3 feet of water. Katrina they cut through the attic/roof.

well glad you all are o.k.. everyone don't understand that after you go through so many storms you seem to look at things differently and that is why a lot of people stayed. 60 years from now our grandchildren will be saying the same thing. what do you think.

when we rode to waveland you could see the where the water almost came up to the interstate going down 603 it had a line and it almost reached the interstate.

Hi....a year ago....I was in Pensacola, FL and then Daphne, AL, because we evacuated. I live in Long Beach and I have many friends in Waveland as well as Casino Magic...now called Hollywood...my dad worked there. My mom and I were at the Beau....anyway....we watched the news for Mobile...the reported who talked to the man who couldn't hold on to his wife anymore...and there in the background stood the mighty Beau Rivage!

However, Waveland...wow, what can you say...ground zero of Katrina. The Pass was pretty much wiped out again too...I hope that your home has been rebuilt or is in the process! And God bless you and your husband for making it through! I do hope for the next storm yall evacuate though! Good luck!!!! :)

8/29/05 was my first day after being bailed out of jail and I was still in a manic episode. I'm thankful I'm still alive.

Guess I was probably watching you on TV wondering how our government could allow that to continue as long as it did. Hope you're doing okay.
