Do you like the name Regan? What does it make you think of?

Yeah, I'm sorry but The Exorcist really ruined the name Regan for other authors. You say "Regan," I picture pea soup on a priest.

King Lear, of course. I actually really like the name but all its associations have been negative (as others have mentioned, Regan is the selfish daughter in King Lear and the little girl in The Exorcist) but maybe you can change the connotations : )

It makes me think of a president who died of Alzheimer's disease, even though his name was spelled differently. Also of one of King Lear's daughters.

Why? There are stories of love and death, courage and honor that have been around since the 12th century. They still read well. Just make it taut, well-written and realistic. Remember to show the readers what your character is like, don't tell them.

Love that name, it's very strong womans name. I picture a Regan Smart, with copperish brown hair and strong features, but still woman-like.

then name reminds me of two things, the president and the girl in the exorcist. Either way, I dont like the name.
