For you moms whose kids have sleeping problems...?

I have just read a book called "Good Night Sleep Tight" by Kim West. I goes through a program designed to help your child learn to go to sleep at night by themselves and stay asleep all night. I chose it because it doesn't involve closing your child in a room to scream for hours on end, and it covers newborns to school aged children.

I am not saying it fixed my daughter, but on her first night she slept in her own bed from 11pm to 7am, something she hasn't done for months and months (and then it was only for 1 night.) I have confidence in my ability to follow this program and wanted to let other frustrated and frazzled moms and dads know it's out there.

Update:

For anyone who needs it, here is the ISBN # so a bookstore can order it for you:

ISBN-13: 978-1-59315-356-4

Thank you.. My daughter is 4 and has NEVER slept thru the night.. even if I lay down with her till she is asleep, have a night light, or let her fall asleep on the couch and then put her to bed... I need all the help I can get...

is it beCAUSE she is afraid of the dark or afraid of sleeping by herself?? ask her. let her know that you are in the other room when she needs you. place a night light in her room or a lava lamp or you can get her one of those colorful night lights that spin around showing neat designs..read to her every night and say a prayer too..tell her that god and the little angels are with her and watching over her... teaching children about god is very interesting and comforting..instead of a fairy tale book u can read her a childrens bible. YOU CAN ALSO LAY WITH HER for 10 minutes til she is sound asleep..but let her know before you lay down with her so she isnt surprised that you got up

I let my 2.5 year old sleep in the living room. This way we all get a good nights sleep (usually).

Another sure fire way to get your child to sleep ---- sleep with them! Americans are so anti-co-sleeping, it's hilarious! What's so wrong about wanting to be close to our little ones for as long as they will let us be? All too soon they will be grown up and no longer want to snuggle with us. Why rush it?

I cherish every minute I get to snuggle with my little guy. :) And yes, he does sleep through the night.
