I bet he will be under house arrest until the order is restored. What follow next is the standard thing: dissolve the parliament, call a snap general election, Thailand got a new PM & government. Hopefully he/she can carry Thailand to a greater heights...

News report said he won't be expected back in Thailand soon and not seeking asylum overseas; but it would be fair to assume he would be arrested if/when he lands back home.

Charges of corruption and other misdeeds have been the reasons for the peaceful military takeover.

He won't be... I have yet to hear of any formal charges filed against him that would warrant his arrest. The Thai military don't arrest anyone on a whim, they who believe that it is their supreme duty to restore order if necessary by becoming the third force.

    No.

Concerns about a conflict or even a counter-coup by Thaksin's supporters were dampened by news that Thaksin's main deputy, Chidchai Vanasatidya, had been "invited to stay" at Army Headquarters.

Thaksin was welcome to return to his homeland, Sonthi said.

"Thaksin is a Thai and a fellow countryman and there will be no problem should he decide to return," he said.

I wouldn't think he'll go back for a while. He took all his family to America with him and is reported to be leaving tomorrow for an unknown destination.

I doubt if they'll arrest him though.

Yes.....and as we speak, his assets are all being seized by the state.....However, it was a very peaceful coup....nothing to worry about.
