How effective would it be if we boycotted..?

Would the mexican govt crack down on illegal immagration if the American people boycoted Mexico, meaning tourism and products made there?

Update:

I do look at labels to see where it comes from and I do try to avoid buying products made in China whenever possable.

They would not feel my boycott. I like other countries for vacation.

I am boycotting all the business in our city that closed to march for the rights of illegals. 3 of my favorite Mexican restaurants were closed (we drove around & checked). I miss them but found replacement restuarants. We ate at the restuarants 1-2 times a week. I encouraged my friends & told them why, so they have probably lost maybe 90-100 meals a week from all of us.

But I stood by my beliefs, no illegals.

I was thinking that too. But then there would be even more illegal immigrants looking for jobs here. No in MY opinion the solution is 1) force Mexican president to create more jobs in Mexico, 2) ask rich Mexicans to invest in their economy, 3) have greedy American corporations stop hiring and exploiting illegal immigrants for peanuts.

Oh for christs sake. Give it a rest already. What is with americans and boycotting these days? First its french wines and bread, then Canada because they kill seals, and now mexico. If you keep goin like this youre not gonna have anything left.

By the way, good luck trying to boycott mexican products. Have a look a the tag on the clothes youre wearing. Chances are theyre made in mexico by child labor in sweatshops. Sweatshops, which incidentally, are owned by american companies, as are many things in mexico. So by boycotting mexico (which in itself isnt even feasible based on what Ive just written) youd only be hurting US companies, therefore, hurting the US. You evil terrorist you!

I don't think that would be as effective as fining the US companies here that are hiring the ILLEGALS. My husband is a contractor and he is not allowed to ask for their green card and has to rely on what the person tells him, but he can't hire illegals... talk about a catch 22

No because the illegals send millions back to Mexico every year while not paying taxes in this country. Just build a wall and if they try to cross, shoot them and keep them out!!!!

I don't think it would help. As the person before me said, the main source of income comes from illegals sending money home.

No, the majority of Mexico's income is sent there by immigrants working in the US.

THAT wont happen. THERE is no leader to take charge over illegal immigration. IF YOU NOTICED NOBODY IS DOING A THING. BOARDER control is a joke.

Actually, cutting government financial aid to them might help.

Maybe. That's a good thought. Nothing else seems to have worked thus far...
