Is China still a communist society ?

China is following their own economy, welcoming huge foreign investment; local entrepreneurs are getting plenty of support and wide-open economy helping them to sit in the economical freeway.

But to do this they didn’t need to ceremonially or constitutionally reform their ‘ism, what they feel good for them they are following and Chinese people love it.

China is currently transforming itself from a communist totalitarian state to a capitalistic/socialistic totalitarian state. The ruling party is currently walking the tightrope of trying to allow economic freedom, which will eventually raise the standard of living for all, while at the same time maintaining close control over the society to keep itself in power.

It will eventually fail, and either fall back into total communism or be thrust into democracy - for the same reason Serfdom in Europe and Communism in Russia failed. A literate, informed, and prosperous people do NOT appreciate a paternalistic totalitarian government nearly as much as a bunch of ignorant rubes with no money and no prospects do.

Yes, And they are censored. They can't get the information on-line that we can. Words like democracy are censored as well as anything like Tienanmen square.

They have a special Google China which censors the words and websites that the China Govt says.

There is still Christian Persecution there. The Catholic Bishop of China cannot even live in China because the past bishops have been martyred for being christian.

In the Catholic Church buildings The Chinese Government has the United Catholic Church of China. The real Catholic Church has to meet in secret and be careful not to be caught.

It is not a free country.

China is still a communist state who has realized the ecomomic reforms are necessary to allow China to prosper. The government still centrally controls the social system in China and sees to the needs of the people.

Chins has been using capitalism simply to keep the Communist Party in power for the past 25+ years. Vietnam saw the results after the fall of the Soviet Union, and they wanted the same thing.

China remains a Communist country although they have allowed Capitalist ideas to take hold primarily to raise capital they could not raise on their own.

It will be interesting to see if totalitarian governing can hold power. once the citizens get a taste of market freedoms they will surely demand other freedoms just as they did in Russia and the Eastern European countries.

China is not a communist society anymore...they are becoming more and more capitalistic as each day passes. People are buying their own homes and their own cars in record numbers there! Communism is on the way out there..but authoritarianism may still be in existence...however it may be at risk in china as well. Hopefully its authoritarian/totalitarian government is ousted and a strong democracy is put into place.(hopefully not by the US..since US based democracies flourish so well lol..just being sarcastic)
