Does it really hurt bad to get a tattoo on the small of your back?
When I see a tattoo on someone close to the area I want it...which is on the small of the back. I ask them if it hurt and different people tell me different things. I'm curious to know what you guys have experienced. My boyfriend thinks it would be even sexier if I get one down there but i'm too scared to get one since it would be my first time.

a Tramp Stamp? ...yeah they hurt...but how much depends on how you handle pain and how chubby you are (the more fat in the area the less it hurts)

I agree with a lot of people that have answered. Depends on how much fat you have in the area and how well you handle pain. yes, every tat will hurt doesn't matter where you get it done, and anyone who says diff is lying.
I took a friend to get her first tat in that exact spot and she is terrified of needles and a wimp, she didn't shed a tear nor complain about the pain.
I have a huge one back there AND I'm dislocated and the worst part was the outline, coloring doesn't hurt as much (your basically numb by then)
My best advice to you, or anyone who wants to get a tat, is get something that your not going to regret when old and wrinkled. Get something with meaning (to you), but a forewarning.....they are very addictive!! My first took me about 2 yrs to decide what I really wanted to get, then I had my first daughter and it all became very clear, her initials.
So take your time to decide what you really want on your body for the rest of your life. Good luck

I get all kinds of different people come into my tattoo shop and i have never had a girl that thought it hurt so much that she had to stop right away!!...YES every tattoo hurts but its just something you have to try cause every ones pain tolerance is different!!! Trust me do not listen to any of these people..its not like a needle going straight through your skin its a totally different kind of pain i have about forty tattoos and the most pain full was my ribs and armpits...those places i would not recommend!!

Well I can tell you that it completely depends on the person and how they handle pain.
For me... I have one on the small of my back too. Its a decent size. When he was tattooing the line on my spine, it definitely hurt. (Im not gonna lie to you haha) but when he was doing the sides it was not half as bad. 2 of my girlfriends also have ones there. One said it didnt even phase her, and the other felt the same as me...
That was my first one as well.
The pain is only for a bit and then you could have a beautiful symbol to have for the rest of your life.
You just have to decide if YOU REALLY want it or not. and make sure you pick something for yourself. take the time and look for something that means something to you.
Best of Luck!
Enjoy!

My brother in law does tattooing and tells me it depends on your own personal pain threshold.
When I had mine done it didn't hurt much just irritated me.
The small of your back is quite close to the spine which carries a lot of nerves and this can hurt an awful lot to a low pain threshold.
Any tattoos close to a surface bone will hurt.

I have numerous tattoos but none in that spot - I have been told that any where that is close to the bone or where there are a lot of nerve endings it is extremely painful. I have one on my shin, the top of my shoulder, and my wrist were all sensitive areas. But in all reality it really depends on your pain tolerance and the design as well as who is doing the work - sometimes you just have to go for it!

As you could conclude after asking several people, it all depends. From my experience (I have 2 tattoos, one in my ankle and one in my belly), the one in my belly was a walk in the park compared to the one in my ankle. The closer the tatto is to the bone (In my belly I have more fat that in my ankle) the more it's gonna hurt.
I will advise you to think about it, regardless what your bf says. Tattoos are certainly for ever, and your boyfriend... who knows? (I wrote "may not", but sounded very hard).
Get a tattoo as long as you are absolutely sure that you want one. No one should ever try to persuade you about getting a tattoo, it's your body, it's your decision.

Every person has a different level of pain tolerance so anything anyone says on here about how much it hurt or didn't hurt makes no difference to you. If you are too scared don't get one.... they all hurt

Getting a tattoo, on ANY part of your body, is going to hurt. Think of this....it's a super sharp needle, penetrating your skin a thousand times per minute. It feels like a razor blade running across the surface of your skin.
It hurts so good!

it hurts bad to get a tattoo anywhere , unless u r into pain , not only that r u sure u really want to mark up your skin , i got tattoos years ago and i am sorry i did, and even if u decide to remove them , it still leaves a scar, leave the drawings to comic books and such,if u want to decorate your body get a fake one u can wash off when u want
