Does anyone think that if you drink beer, like a twelve pack a day for the last 20 years....?

...((my husband)) that it will eventually turn you into "two" people...the morning person, and the night person. I've noticed my husband of two years, drinks quite a lot of beer....(yes, I knew it when I married him) he is so much fun...and the beer doesn't hinder his actions..only to get really silly by the end of the night. But I'm afraid that I really am seeing two different people, in the fact that he doesn't remember things the next day..of course. I guess what i'm asking is ...will he die an early death? He is in perfect health...(just saw the doc) the only thing his blood pressure was up...138 over 90....which is not bad...and the doc told him to watch his salt. Just curious...he drinks alot of water on the job also, does this counter-act his beer in his system? Lots of questions..I guess...

ok i am 39. i drink at least 12 beers a day and have for about 19yr. i work everyday so i start drinking at about 6pm. i went on blood pressure meds 2 months ago. my bp goes to normal when i am drinking. the doc said it was because it is a depressant.high bp runs in my family. whiskey and vodka and stuff like that is what hurts you. beer is not healthy but i think we will be ok. sounds like he can handle his drink so let him have fun. if it becomes a problem then you will see it right away

Hey I am like that too but I don't drink quite that much and I drink alot of soda during the day to counteract the booze (well that's not why I drink the soda but I am going along with your theory here).

There is an episode of 'Friends' about a guy who is called 'Fun Bobby' when he drinks because he is the life of the party and everyone loves him....when he stops drinking he becomes this despressed dark person.

As far as dying early....well maybe but I personally would rather die at 65 than spend 20 extra years in diapers in a Nursing Home.

I guess it depends on the kind of beer he drinks. Bud Light, for example, is like drinking H2O. Sometimes I'll have a Bud Light for lunch. My thought is that drinking twelve beers a day is a whole lot healthier than drinking twelve Pepsi's a day. Have some fun - die happy. You don't want to be locked in a nursing home strapped to a Jerry-chair and smearing your own BM on the walls!!

He sounds like an alcoholic. Drinking a 12-pack of beer a day is not normal and is bad for the health. Unfortunately things won't get better until they become much worse. Sorry.

alcohol over a long period of time causes your liver to shut down. nothing "counteracts" the drinking of alcohol. The water will keep him hydrated, as alcohol tends to cause loss of fluids. You are not married to 2 different people. What you are married to is an alcoholic. You are one of the luckier women if he isn't violent or abusive when he drinks. Yes, drinking WILL shorten his life. Having "blackouts" is a normal thing when you are a person who drinks alot. You might want to sit down and explain your concerns about his health to him. Any lessening of the alcohol consumption will help his health.

You probably don't want to hear this but yes. It will affect his Liver, the most important organ in the body. He also sounds like an Alcoholic. I know that is something you also may not want to face.

He should really cut down, alcohol is so harmful for your liver, you can get all types or things or it can even be fatal. Tell him to be careful and see another doctor to check him again. Good Luck.

That is a lot, he should cut down, to avoid problems in the future.
