Scavenger Hunt ideas for a teen slumber party?

You could go get some of the cheaper makeup stuff from WalMart. You know, those little nailpolishes, the little body sprays and stuff like that. Girly stuff that they are getting into at that age. Oh wait...you mean stuff that would already be in the neighborhood if it were for a scavenger hunt, right? If thats the case you could send them looking for...well, it's not like they can take anything cause it will all belong to your neighbors.

Sorry I am out of ideas unless they would have poloroid cameras to take pics of the stuff they found like hoses or a dog or say a blue car, etc.

I guess what you could do to have them prove they found whatever is on your list is to just have them write down the house number or something and they'll think you are going to check it.

I have 5 girls age 13-14 coming over for a slumber party. And I wanted to do something different like a scavenger hunt. Any ideas on items they can surch for in the neighborhood??

You can go to the library and get books on Party Ideas for Kids some are really great.

For a scavenger hunt keep it close to home or at a park supervised by adults.

Girls love cosmetics. If you have old cosmetics you can hide them and make up a story line on your computer adding in different cosmetics they should find. Make it fun. Just make up the story and add in: lipstick, eyeliner, foundation, scrub, moisterizer, eyebrow pencil, and any other item like perfume that girls love. They need to read the story and gather any item that is cosmetics or body related in a certain amount of time. You can hide in back yard too. In your story give a hint as to where it would be in red. Teems are best but if you only have 5 that may not work.

You can even make it where you buy inexpensive cosmetics and let them keep any they find. Have a prize for the teem that gets the most collected.

Keep in mind you can have a Hair Party too. Where the girls try out different styles. Get a book that shows hair do's and each girl gets a turn to look different. They love it.

You can get those tiny pumpkins at most grocery stores. Have them bob for pumkins. Huanted Makeovers, with a little face paint and tiny brushes they can turn each other into a corpse bride or the bride of frankenstien. For a snack idea. Chocolate pudding or Red Jell-O with gummy worms and gumballs that look like eyes in them. You can make cookies that look like bones, and red icing so it looks like they are bloody. Scavenger hunt - Maybe you can find some little box that require keys that look similar to a skeleton key. Have them search for the clues leading to the key, when the find the key,it has the last clue to lead them to the box that have little goodies in it. Maybe huanted madlibs, or a reasonable halloween dvd. The prizes inside should be for things that they can all do together for the rest of the sleep over.

My mother did this for my friends and I when I was an adolescent. She split us up into two teams and sent us both in opposite directions in the neighborhood. Then, we went door to door asking for the items on our lists. Whichever team came back by the deadline with the most items won. Items on the list included things like a safety pin, a bottle cap, an old license plate (we were asked to return this one!), a piece of red yarn, etc.

Of course, this was 15 years ago... and it was (presumably) a tad safer to send teenage girls door to door in the neighborhood. I guess it would depend upon how much you trust your neighbors.

Here's some items you may try:

A rubber band

a paper clip

cancelled stamp

colored yarn (pick a color)

bottle cap

AA battery

newpaper from a certain date (make it recent so it's not in the recycle bin)

cereal boxtop

a pre-1980 penny (they were solid copper)

or you can do a penny from her birth year...

pencil...

etc...

Or, if you want them away longer, you can add "virtual" items, like what color flowers are at "X's" house?, what lawn decoration is at a particular house?, and so on... That will also keep them from getting all the items at one house and being back in 5 minutes.

Ask your parents to take you to the mall, and split up into teams of two. Get a camera and have them do a list of different things. Watch the movie Sleepover for an idea of what to put on that list.

If certain people always leave things outside you can do stuff like your next door neighbor's rake or the little boy down the street's tricycle,the basketball in so-and-so's drive way or the green hoola hoop at the end of the block.Stuff like that.

Assuming you know the neighbors well...

An egg

A bar of soap (or even a hotel bar of soap)

An aluminum can (non-alcoholic of course)

1 sheet of printed paper towel

A paper cup

A recipe of any sort

A fabric softener sheet

5 toothpicks
