The widow of a man who shot dead five Amish girls at a school in the US state of Pennsylvania has thanked the Amish community for their love and support.

Note: I am an atheist. However, if one had to choose one religion - or sect - that transcends the divisiveness and bigotry that plague so many other religions, my vote would go to the Amish/Old Order Mennonites.

    I live very close to where this tragedy occurred.The Amish are an amazing people.Most of us seem to forget the family of the person who commit these horrible crimes have nothing to do with their actions.It isn't the families fault that their loved one did these things.The Amish brought that to every ones mind when they so lovingly embraced this woman and her children.I'm sure she feels a slight release in some of the burden that surely she feels.If things happen for a reason,as the Amish feel they do,perhaps it was to open our eyes and realize that this world is in a tailspin.Forgiveness is almost non existent anymore.

    am with you on this one, from what i have seen of this horrendous tragedy on the news, they as a community have acted with the most dignity under extreme circumstances, their quite inner strength is an example to everyone worldwide. my feelings are with them.
