Let me ask you anti-gun people a question?

If some one runs over a bunch of people with a car, are you going to want to take our cars next.

Remember guns don't kill people, If I did ever want to kill someone I would find a way, a car, a bomb, a stick whatever, a golf club. Do you really think taking guns away will make any difference? Look how many people are stabbed to death each year, or even each day for that matter. Knifes next, or cars

Last year in the US more people stopped crime with a gun than did people commiting crimes.. go figure... where's the media on this little fact...

the two guys above me hit the nail on the head. Nothing more to really add. great job guys. Very Informative...

a COUPLE of things to hit on though:

Gun-control only applies to law abiding citizens. Like me. and others who go into the gun shop to purchase firearms legally. I could go find whatever I wished on the street. From the .22 handgun up the the Barrett .50 cal rifle.

I and 99% of the firearm owners chose not too. Simple reason..Jail is not a good place to be. You "anti's" are very nieve to believe by "outlawing" certain firearms others will not crop up to take their banned position to fill the criminals hand.

it s not the gun that kills: it is the person on the trigger end. i can take my .357 right now. Put it on my desk. Leave it loaded. Admire the pretty stainless barrel and irovy pistol grips. But, until I pull the trigger it is just a paper wieght.

As for children getting their hands on a gun...THAT IS THE PARENTS FAUGHT!!! Not the GUNS, the gun is a machine. A man made inanimate object. Gun Safes and here is the best part:::TEACH YOUR KIDS "GUN SAFETY" I am 32 yr old male and I have been handling guns since I was 11, not one accident EVER...Why my father!! As a young child, I had CAP/TOY guns etc etc...But, only once did I point the TOY gun at my friends or family. And my father explained to me why it is bad to point a gun at anyone, even a toy one. And at 8 yrs old it stuck with me and I passed it on to my freinds. IT, GUN SAFETY STARTS THERE..

My guns are always treated as LOADED..even if I think they are not!!

    thanks

    As a gun owner...

"It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead marines and then you will be in a world of **** because marines are not allowed to die without permission." Gunny Hartman, Full Metal Jacket

But it does make it a lot easier and less personal. I could shoot you from 400 yards away and you'd just go down like a falling plate at the range. No mess, no fuss, little chance of being caught for a single event. No blood on my hands. Nobody screaming and running after me, no damage to my car from running you down. Or I could walk up to you as you collect your mail... Either way I don't get close enough to give you a chance to defend yourself and it's over fast. Beating you to death with a golf club is an uncertain method and I could get hurt. It's not easy to source decent explosives for a bomb.

On the other hand, a soccer mom with an H2 is much more likely to kill me accidentally than a bad man with a gun. If I am killed accidentally there's a 45% chance it will be a car crash and a 0.8% chance it will be with a gun.

That is the interesting legal slippery slope that the anti gun people want to slide down. If they succeed in blaming gun manufacturers for gun deaths then they establish a legal precident which breaks the current concept of separation between the manufacture and use of devices like cars and bread knives.

But still, the UK has a gun crime issue, it kills under 100 people a year with guns. The US has a gun crime issue, Oakland, CA kills more people with guns every year than the UK. But Canadians are armed and aren't killing each other... so maybe it's just that Americans are basically violent people?

Its not the gun that is the problem its the person using it. Violence existed long before guns existed. Also Switzerland has a very low gun crime rate but has a high "gun count per capita" almost 100% ownership.

Furthermore, making guns illegal will only affect legal law-abiding citizens, it will have no effect on criminals. Have a look at the availability of many illegal substances such as underage drinking, illicit drugs, etc.

This just shows the ignorance of all you over the top anti's out there. Look at Australia and Canada. The gov't has made most guns illegal for nearly everyone and the crime rate has skyrocketed there. I agree the waiting periods are good and there needs to be harsher penalties for gun crimes and a harder way to access weapons, and I also agree that certain weapons do not need to be had by all people, but come on...

If people were held accountable and not let back into society to do most of this repeat offender crap, most of this wouldn't be an issue.

You know these are some of not all that don't want Oil in the Oil fields of Alaska, Or from the Gulf Of Mexico or out of California. And Don't want Wind Farms off Nantucket or Were ever Walter Croncrite has his place there for the "View". No new Power Plants. No new Refineries. Open borders. Plus we should Sit down with Osama Bin Laden and Negotiate out a end to terrorism. This is only a short list... I'm sure many others could continue on with this list...

Just a little note for boker_magnum:

Guns are NOT illegal in Guatemala, I live here. I have 2 guns, my mom has one and my dad 2. Anyway, crime here is really bad, but if you're armed, you're pretty safe. A friend of mine and 5 of his friends were beating up a band of thugs that had broken into their house one night. They had raped their maid and were about to do his mom and sisters. Luckily that's when they got back. Anyway, they caught the whole band (he and his friends were armed) and started beating them, until the police arrived. When the police saw one of the thugs on the ground, who BTW, was already beaten to death; they recognized him and identified the band, who had a bad criminal record. Well, what they did was load up all the bad guys (5 of them), took them (in the police pickup trucks) to a place away from Guatemala City, and proceeded to properly dispatch them to hell (it's not like we wanted them here anyway.)

That's what I call justice. What if the 5 guys weren't armed? They would probably be dead by now, and the maid, his mom and sisters would've been raped and robbed.

Anyway, here in Guatemala there are some restrictions, but it's really easy to buy a gun legally and get a CCW license, as long as you're over 25.

They're debating a new law, that will allow you to carry from 18 +. I hope they pass it, 'cause I'm 23

if the anti gunners were to enlist in the military, i do believe they would see all in a different light.

\one person ask why do we need assault rifles, first and foremost, the constitution says i can, second, i own an assault rifle, and another rifle for varmints, they use the same cartridge, and they will kill.

i have no problem of people no liking something. but don't take away my likes in the meantime. i do know from experience, when the government is the only that has guns, then the people will and do suffer,

Even though there have been violent crimes committed with golf clubs, guns are the preferred instruments for criminal activity. More people have been accidentally killed with guns than with golf clubs. I'm not against guns, but I would like to see less of them end up in the hands of career criminals.

Well, I understand what you're saying, but the only problem I'm seeing in your argument is that cars have another purpose, other than killing- they get you from A to B. Knives cut food, paper, whatever-they're used as tools.A gun's only real function is to cause harm to or kill someone, or something.

I'm not anti-guns by any means necessary, I'm actually a riflery instructor, but I kind of see your argument flawed in the way that guns are the only designated weapons that you mentioned (other than a bomb, which I am COMPLETELY against people having). Everything else you talk about has a primary function other than causing harm. I think you may want to rethink what you're saying here.

Unfortunately guns make people and things stop breathing.

    Guns are for what?

Yup I know what you are saying but they are all too often used for evil deeds.

Even when they are regulated .. the honest Joe is not the one you need to worry about ... it is the unregistered ones on the street that do the damage.

    Good question but very debatiable.
