Should I seek a job elsewhere and relocate my family, even though they are all happy where we currently live?
I live in an isolated area in a town of 498 people. My job is seasonal, and I get laid off six months at a time. We struggle to make a living here, but everybody in the family is really happy (beautiful surroundings, quiet, low crime, good schools, good friends). The kids don't want to move (four kids, ranging from 18 to 8). I recently received a college degree, but there are no opportunities nearby. Should I search for a job elsewhere even though my family would be disappointed to move?

I also have 4 children ranging from 19 to 9. We just moved and we got a little resistance from our children too. Especially the 19 year old who had established many friends where we were living.
(He was old enough to stay, but not mature enough and did not make enough at his job to support himself.) We moved and the kids love our new home and the benefits of my husbands company. (A wellness and health center with a pool and gym, bowling, company parties and discounts to many activities in our new town.) We looked for homes online to get a since of what the new town was like and also looked at the schools in the area.
We got great feedback from the kids when we did this. They really started to get excited. Send off for info from the local chamber of commerce where some of your perspective employers are located. Have the kids look at them. Especially the ones that involve family and children's attractions.
Use your degree and better yourself and the kids WILL come around! They will benefit from the new experience!
Also, not all major companies are in huge cities! Now you have a degree, you have more of a choice in where you want to end up. Profile places that you think might suit you and your family.

My husband and that i've got pals in Michigan, and that they are continually commenting approximately how the economic gadget up there is stagnant and that there are not any sturdy interest opportunities. i think of the outstanding situation approximately your relocation, is the certainty which you're shifting to the place you have already got somewhat of a help gadget. (Your mom). i think of it sounds like it relatively is going to be a great threat on your loved ones. Plus, you're interest sales in o.ok.Park is going to mirror the cost of residing for that area, vs. what you're making in Michigan. It seems costly, yet via the time you get available, and get located with your jobs, you will in all probability no longer even observe a distinction. i'm hoping this enables. maximum suitable of success to you!!!

Try to find a job first, and explain to your family what the perks would be. Also, try to keep one leg in your current community. Make a point of maybe, taking a week and visiting the area you are seeking a job in, with the whole family. See it's sights, they might see moving in a whole new light then!

Obviously your not happy. As beautiful as it is there, you shouldnt be struggling to make a living. And you have a college degree!!! I'm sure you and your family will make new friends else where and be just as happy without having to struggle. Everybody needs change. Its bound to happen.

Sounds like this needs to be a family decision. I would check what is now available to you within either commuting distance or maybe weekending distance to better make a good decision.

Have you discussed this with your spouse? The 2 of you should talk about how hard it is for you guys to make ends meet.
