leather sofas?

I have a leather sofa and a cat, and have had no problems. In fact I find this better as I don't get cat hairs sticking to it as you would with a normal sofa. Leather sofas are also great if your cat comes home with muddy paws as you can just wipe the mess off with a cloth. Only thing to watch out for is if your cat tries to claw it, but mine has never done this - she prefers the carpet!!

I have a leather couch and 3 cats. They have scratching posts throughout the house but they love the sofa! The first day I got it there were already 8 scratches on it! I find fresh scratches every day!!

The good thing is that I bought the couch at Jennifer Leather. I paid an extra $100 for the insurace. It doesn't cover animal damage but the guy who comes to fix the scratches said its ok. He said he wouldnt tell if I didn't!! He comes out atleast once a month. I'm covered for life! (or as long as I keep the couch)

My cat, within the first few weeks, clawed the back of my leather sofa. It left little claw holes and small threads sticking out. Because of the positioning of the sofa, we didnt spot the claw marks for a while and now we've moved, the claw marks are visibal the sofa is ruined. The solution is not to leave your cat in the same room as your sofa unsupervised.

Erm, cats tend to develop a great fondness for leather sofas. Keep a close eye on the cat so you can nip any claw sharpening in the bud. Ideally the cat should be shut out of the room with the sofas.

I've got a leather 3 piece suite and have no problems. If you're worried you can put a straw mat down on the floor which they would much rather claw. I have 6 cats and none of them claw the furniture. In fact leather has worked out much better as you can just flick the hairs off it or wipe it down.

I have a straw mat that was used when we first got the furniture and they all used that. Now the mat has gone and they seem to be conditioned not to scratch the furniture.

It is not so much the clawing that is the problem as the jumping up with extended claws. As a rule cats are not particularly fond of leather because it is cool when they jump on it, but if you vacate a seat where you just sat, they like the warmth and your smell and therefore settle on the same spot.However they do not like the smell of wax so if you spray your leather with the appropriate treatment provided by the manufacturer you should be OK.

We have leather sofas, our adult cat had plucked it slightly. However we recently got 2 kittens and now the sofas are plucked within an inch of their lives. As someone else said, my kittens love doing spider-man impressions up them too.

I think any sofa you get it will probably pluck, due to it being new material. Get some throw overs and hopefully it will attack that instead!

I got a kitten about a month ago and he really isn't very interested in our leather furniture. We have one old computer chair we let him scratch (it's made of rough material) and also bought him a scratching post. It might be a good idea to get kitty into the habit of not getting on the furniture at all because the only scratches our kitty has caused has been getting up on the couch (he digs in to pull himself up) or if he jumps off suddenly.

My cat would scratch on the side of the leather couch, but not on the seats. I got him to stop doing that. However, when he'd jump off the couch, occasionally he'd leave a scratch mark from his back claws. I put covers on to solve the problem.

Cats dont scratch leather too ofton as the texture isnt rough enough. Nice and easy to wipe clean too so not too many hair problems.

My cat loves lying on the leather when it is nice and cool, if its hot outside.
