Question for Americans citizens. Please answer honesly with no rhetoric?

Isn't it about time we became the United States of America again?Stop all of this partisan nonsense.Just because you belong to the same party as someone running for or currently in office doesn't mean you should agree with everything they do or say.I don't align myself with any one party.I try to make decisions as to who will be best for this country. Can't we all start doing this?

Update:

jl_jack09 obviously means "Can't read or answer a question".One of the types dragging the country down.It says without rhetoric doesn't it?

I agree. I think we should get rid of parties and vote individuals. All the parties are becoming entangled in their beliefs anyway.Maybe then on their commercials they would actually say what they want to do for us instead of bashing the other guy because of his party. They ought to make that a law anyway. On the campaigne commercials they should have to state what they believe in and not be allowed to mention anyone elses name . Just by the commercials how many people reading this actually knew what any of the candidates stood for ? I bet you knew who they were running aganst though huh ? Maybe if it was like this the party compitition would be gone and they would have more time and concern to focus ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE !!!!

I'm a yellow dog Democrat, have been since my father told me I was. (A Yellow Dog Democrat is someone who votes for who ever the Democrats run even if its a yello hound dog.) I am not ashamed.

I have been very upset with my senator Ben Nelson. He calls himself a Democrat but he's been voting very Republican. I had a half mind not to vote for him. This did not mean voting for the Republican Challenger. Oh no! It meant leaving the ballot blank. Actually making a check mark next to Republican name. My hand would fall off.

I did vote for Nelson and now I'm glad I did. Because now the Democrats have control of the Senate. And even if I am personally unhappy with my Senator, I am happy that the party I support controls the Senate and the house.

Of course I don't agree with every single thing every single Democrat throws up on the wall to see if it sticks. But over the long haul, I have found the the Democratic Party, when it has some starch in it's shorts, represents what I think is best for the country.

As I ask any Republican I come across- I'm a disabled woman, living on less than $15,000 a year with considerable medical expenses. I did not believe in those weapons of mass destruction (If he was so sure they were there, why couldn't anybody find them?) and I firmly believe in the separation of church and state. Give me one good reason to vote republican?

Sure. I think it should be a total bipartisan effort to see if the American people were duped into this war. If they were, let's put the people who did it in jail, then get on with the job and win it. We have little choice on that now, which might have been the plan all along. War is extreemly profitable for a few, and its not hard to follow the money here. We really have opened a can of worms, and short of putting another evil dictator in place, there's no turning back. That means troops on the ground, probably more than a half million for many years to come.

I agree with you. That's why I consider myself a moderate. I won't tell you how I voted on Tuesday, but I would also like to see us put partisan politics aside. I get just as mad at some of my liberal friends who think all Republicans are stupid and greedy as I do at certain members of my family, who think all Democrats are immoral and ruining the country. How can we be a strong country if we continue to fight among ourselves so much? I think we should all be more open minded and listen to each other's opinions more and take them into consideration rather than think someone is stupid for having a different point from our own. It's a nice dream, but I don't know if it will happen anytime soon.

I'd hope that most people in the United States think the same way that you do. And if they tend to be more conservative or liberal in their beliefs about how government should run, fine, they'll tend toward voting for democrats or republicans.

It's not bad to be liberal or conservative. It's not bad to join the Democrat or Repubican parties. But politics is not a basketball game where you root for your side because it's always been your team.

So to conclude, I'm with you!

i agree with you but this have to start from the top. up on capital hill there are some bad blood between the two parties that run government and until they realize this country isn't about their parties and do what right for this country a lone parties line we will never get back to what this country once was a working democracy

Yes I agree. But here's the rhetoric: Americans are not so divided as news media and politicians make us out to be. Most of us still maintain similar values, and just because 50-50 vote does not mean we are divided. It simply means there is little difference between ho-ho and ho-hum.

The news people have to make up controversy otherwise they don't have spectacular newscasts. Spectacular is what gets them ratings.

It's like an evening at the " Miller's House " the Kids are fighting Sister is mad at Harry, Tom is pissed because of Mom, Dad got a hangover and don't cares, he wants quiet. Mom is really annoyed with him. The Neighbors are complaining about Tommy.....you get the point, EVERYTHING IS FINE as longest you don't f**k with the Millers and their Neighbors and you're from out of Town.

I agree with you totally!! In a way it kind of seems like people play monkey see monkey do And to me that is why the whole world is in turmoil. Nobody is thinking for themselves. When I vote I for for things that make sense to me not because one party says I should.

Many people vote for whom they want... not the a certain party. It is your assumption that people aren't. Yes, there are those that vote party but what I have seen lately in the last few general elections is that more and more people really do vote for whom they believe to be the best candidate... regardless of party. People have even declined to state their party affiliation on their ballots because they are not voting straight party anymore.
