When is a child ready to go from a potty chair to a potty seat on the toilet?

    When they begin to show interest.....My son was totally potty trained (by himself pretty much) by the time he was about 16 moths old my daughter on the other hand was almost 3!!

    My daughter whom is almost 2 uses the big potty most of the time!At night time when she wakes in the middle of the night she has a seat that goes on top of the potty!But any other time she uses the BIG potty!

    My kids have all started with a potty seat on the toilet and did very well! We never messed around with potty chairs.

    depends on the child some dont even use a potty chair they just learn to potty in the big potty and some prefer the potty

    We never used a potty chair...we went straight for the potty seat...no mess!! When ever your ready...go for it.

    when their little butts are bug enough to sit on the big potty without falling in. Seriously I would transition any kid to the big potty until they can either balance themselves so they don't fall in!

    when they understand what the little potty is. age 2and a half or so. i never used the potty chair with my son

    ask him/her when they say yes by all means go ahead it will give a feeling of having independence in decision making processes
