This will probably sound strange. Since it has been so dry and hot this year, there have been very few home grown tomatoes.

Someone gave my mom some beautiful home grown tomatoes. I took one look at them, and knew they were going to be good. They were deep red and looked so good, trust me they were. That was the first thing that I tasted and the best.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Scotland but on Christmas day I would go for either the stuffing or the turkey first. Saving the roast potatoes until the end! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I haven't done it yet, but I'm sure that it will be the succulent turkey.

    Addendum several hours later:

Since you said the plate, the hors d'oeuvres don't count. So the first thing I tasted from my plate was Mom's fabulous rice and mushroom turkey stuffing (not that bread stuffing) that I have dearly loved for many many years. Mercy! It was good.

Lasagna. Homemade. We worked till 1pm, so we didn't feel like cooking a huge meal. Prepared lasagna yesterday and baked it today. It was delicious!! I put meatballs and sausages in each layer of the lasagna to add flavor. Hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving!!

    Chow!!

I cut a little bite of turkey, swirled it through the potatoes and gravy, scooped up a few nibbles of corn and then swiped it all through the cranberry sauce before depositing it in my mouth. Mmm...yummy!
