Well it depends how effective caffeine is on you. I've known a few people that coffee makes them sleepy. But it has been proven that if you take in a lot of caffeine your body will not respond to it and you will be very tired.
Consumption of caffeine does not eliminate the need for sleep: it only temporarily reduces the SENSATION of being tired. So when you do get tired it will be more tired than usual.
You have to be careful with caffeine, it's a drug that in large amounts, esecially over an extended period of time, can lead to a number of physicial and mental conditions. A high intake of caffeine, especially over long periods of time, can lead to nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching, insomnia, heart palpitations and hyperreflexia. Because caffeine increases the production of stomach acid, high usage over time can lead to peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis and gastro reflux disease.
It is also a diuretic, so if you dring a lot of coffee make sure you drink a lot of water.

Coffee has never made me less tired. I just end up exhausted and wired at the same time. Not a good feeling.

In a kind of odd, backhand way, YES, it can!
Caffeine affects different people in different ways, and in some, the effects can be very long-lasting. This can affect your level of sleep, the restful quality of your sleep, and ultimately affect things like breathing! (Sleep apnea and heart arrhythmia can be side effects of coffee).
Like everything else, taken in moderation, there is no problem. Just know what your "moderation" level is, and stay there!
Best wishes!

stimulation too has its own limitation- when it reaches to the point of saturation we will not be able to derive the advantage - naturally the tiredness is felt with no immediate remedy - only relaxation to an extent will bring some relief.
