Does it feel borken? I mean if you feel your thumb up and down, does it feel like something is out of whack? If so, I suggest you go to the doc, because it might be broke. And did it turn black and blue a couple of days after it happened? See theres a lot of question you have to check out first. Like can you move it back and forth? Does it hurt to use it? Have you been putting it on ice?
Well, good luck with the thumb. And Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!!

Do you have gripping problems, too? After an injury to the thumb, gripping things like a drinking glass or opening a door can be difficult, due to the ligament damage.
This is fairly common in skiers (falling while holding onto ski poles, for example) and other sports.
In some cases, the ligament is torn slightly, and healing can take months. Without proper treatment, healing may be prolonged.
You should have it looked at by a medical doctor, preferably, one who has experience with sports injuries.

Sounds like you should go get it looked at. I dislike doctors myself but if this has been a problem for so long you should get a professional opinion to prevent possible injury in the future.

have you considered the possibility that it has been damaged in some way?
