Generally all fruits contain sugar....my husband who is Type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent) takes either apple (half) or seedless green grapes (10) every night as recommended by his doctor. This gives him good sleep and his sugar level doesn't go below normal during night or early morning...try

Diabetics can potentially eat anything they want to. The key is to test your blood sugar to find out how each food affects it. Any particular food might raise one diabetic's blood sugar significantly, but have very little effect on another diabetic's blood sugar.

If you have type 2 diabetes and you don't understand your diet restrictions then you should see you doctor about this and perhaps a dietician or nutritionist so that you understand what is going on in your body. If you are seeing a general practitioner make an appt with an endocrinologist.

Diabetics have to maintain strict control over their blood glucose levels. Diabetics don't live to eat, they eat to live. Careful monitoring of blood sugar levels will allow most diabetics to eat whatever they wish in moderation. Carbohydrates such as white sugar, white bread, white rice, white pasta, should be consumed carefully. Visit the American Dietetic website or the American Diabetes web site for much more information

Refined foods are the worst...sugar, flour....there is a really good diet out there for diabetics called the Pritikin (Plan or Diet) ---it eliminates not only sugar, but all other kinds of refined foods --the claim is that if a person sticks completely to the Pritikin Plan they do not need to take insulin. My grandmother is diabetic on oral medication and I help her with this Pritikin Plan diet and she has been able to quit taking the oral medication.

People with diabetes can eat whatever they like.
There are certainly better choices than others.
It's all a matter of balancing, carbs, medication and exercises.
You need to check with a dietitian for all the info.

Sugar and starches
Sugar only on special occasions and very little then. Starches turn into sugar and must be limited. Potatoes, fried foods, fast foods carry a lot of starches and fats that are not good for you.
