Favorite places in Seattle?

I've been spending a lot of time in Seattle recently and I've already found a few favorite places and things to see, but I'd like to hear about some more... other people's favorites, especially from locals.

I'm interested in hearing about favorite restaurants, pubs, walks, and sights to see specifically in the city of Seattle. I'm staying in the Queen Anne area, so anything close to that is also a plus.

I enjoy walking at Green Lake, Alki or Golden Gardens Park or hiking at Discovery Park. I have memberships at the Space Needle, Woodland Park Zoo and Seattle Aquarium, which guarantees something to do on lazy days. Also like spending time downtown at Pike Place Market or Pioneer Square on occasion. I love taking ferry rides to Bremerton or Bainbridge on any given sunny day or clear night - I think the view is breathtaking and enjoy the relaxing ride. I also enjoy taking day trips to some of the surrounding areas - Snoqualmie Falls, Whidbey Island, Port Townsend, Deception Pass, Leavenworth, or Diablo Lake.

As for restaurants, my favorites are a few scattered ethic restaurants. Here's a quick list:

Thai - Sabai Sabai (Green Lake)

Mexican - El Ranchon (Magnolia) or Beso Del Sol (Wallingford)

    Chinese - Mandarin Gate (Oaktree)

Indian - Taste of India (U-District)

    Italian - Lombardi's (Ballard)

Seafood - Seattle Crab Company (Northgate)

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great time while you are visiting!

Fado's Irish Pub is a favorite of mine. For shows go to The Showbox Theatre or El Corazon. Kerry Park is in the Queen Anne area and has some of the best views of the Seattle skyline and the Puget Sound. Check out Pioneer Square if you haven't already. It has a ton of history and lots of cool bars, clubs and restaurants. Also, the Seattle Underground Tour is located in this district. Take a ferry over to Bainbridge Island one afternoon and wait until it gets dark to come back over to Seattle. The views and the lights are breathtaking. Seattle is an amazing, wonderful city!! :-)

If you're a coffee drinker you'd love Caffe Vita. This vibrant coffeehouse make you feel warm anytime of the day. Caffè Vita is known for its slow-roasted coffee beans and its variety of blends. Sample or choose your favorite, or the Guatemalan Antigua, the Italian Caffè del Sol or the French roast Caffè Luna. They also have a nice selection of cookies and pastries. I went here and the first cup of coffee was good so I came back later and got me another. Also their pastries are so delicious I can still taste it in my mouth. It's funny I get this question and I just came bac from seeing my Aunt in Seattle last Friday. This Little place is located at 813 5th Ave North, Seattle, WA 98109 · 206-285-9662. I hope you have a marvelous time!!!

As a former U of WA student I have soft spot in my heart for the Arboretum on the main campus. It's gorgeous, especially in the spring and it was designed by the man who designed Central Park in NYC. Perfect for walking, picnicking, reading and day-dreaming.

I also really used to love to walk The Ave (University Way) but due to a gentrification project it doesn't hold the same charm any more.

There is a really lovely little Gargoyle shop there, though... and possibly the best piroshki place in town. (Get the salmon one shaped like a little fish. Really good.)

As far as clubs... NocNoc on 2nd Ave. is great. Wonderful industrial scene on the weekends.

And the Fremont Troll is a must see. It's adorable.

I love the Market. I could stay there for hours. Kerry Park in Queen Anne is a great place too. It has some of the greatest views of the skyline.
