Why do I heal so slowly?
Howdy! I'm having a serious problem with healing...for example: a small cat scratch on my hand will take over two weeks to fully heal. I know most people would heal from it in less than 24 hours. Also, I don't feel as rested as I should after sleeping. And I sleep enough, over 9 hours on average.
I didn't always use to be like this. In fact, I used to heal exceptionally quickly. Any help, info, or anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

It's important to note your healing time and it's good that you did. I'm wondering if you may have a blood sugar problem. Diabetics heal slowly also people with suppressed immune systems heal slower as well. If I were you I'd go and tell your dr about and ask for some blood work to be completed, CBC and Differentual, also a blood glucose test, urine test as well. You could hav a low grade infection your not even aware of and that could be slowing sown your healing. And tell the Dr you have a cat I'm assuming you do becuse you mentioned a cat scratch. Cat scratches can also be serious so let him know. I'm sure you'll be fine but don't take a chance with your health. Please. You lose your health you lose more that you can imagine. All the best to you and please get looked at. Good luck

you could be diabetic, usually diabetics take a long time in order to heal over the smallest thing...as for the sleep, perhaps you are sleeping, but you are not resting.. you probably toss and turn all night without realizing it. also...one other thing that could cause you to heal slowly....is your skin dry? if so use a lot of lotion...moisturized skin heals much faster than dry skin... try that and if you are still slow, go to the doctor...

Do me a great big favor...and get to a doctor...you could be diabetic! You sound like you have some of the symptoms for diabetes. I know a fair amount about the illness. The symptoms are: slow healing....lack of proper rest...thirsty all the time...big cravings for sugar. You should seriously get yourself to a doctor...and get yourself tested!!!

You should go to a nutritionist and have a complete blood
analysis; they could tell you if some nutrients are missing
in your diet. Do you feel you eat the right things, from the
basis four food groups, plus take a multivitamin? Go to
your local GNC (General Nutrition) store and they could
give you ideas on supplements.
