What do you say to the Republicans & conservatives who voted for Democratic candidates in November election?

In the last election there were thousands of Republicans and conservatives who voted Democratic, many for the first time in their life. Without their votes, it's doubtful that there would have been such a resounding repudiation of the Bush Presidency. So my question to those who continue to support Bush, is how do you respond to your fellow Republicans & conservatives who chose to vote for a party you find contemptous?

I personally voted Republican, and I have no real ill feelings towards any Republican who voted Democrat.

People have to vote their conscience, and that's acceptable, however the democrats should not take that to mean that the country is going in their direction, if they are wise they won't attempt to use this slight shift to force their ideas on the people, because the moment they do they will lose all those votes in 08.

And I really don't think it is representative of repudiation against Bush's administration, I think it is more along the lines of placing more control over the direction Bush was going, at least according to what my Right sided friends who voted Democrat told me.

Personally I am now kinda glad it went left, now anything that goes wrong.... it's now the fault of congress =)

And if Congress is smart they will keep the balance, other wise kiss 08 goodbye...

I'm a Republican who voted for a Democrat in the last election.

That vote in no way reflected my non-support of Bush, or support for the Dems' agenda in general. It was more about who I thought would be a better representative for my district.

I really wasn't happy with the GOP candidate, who I voted against in the primary. I'm not overly fond of my Dem Congressman, either, but he was the lesser of two evils.

So much for a Dem mandate, I guess.

Check your facts, in 2000 gore got 2,117,741 votes in Ohio. Bush got 2,294,167. Nader got the rest. In 2004 Kerry got 2,741,167.

In 2006 Ted Strickland got 2,435,384. Republicans did not jump ship, rather Democrats turned out in droves to vote and Republicans could not find a way to cheat a steal the votes.

Ya right!!!! Only 19% of the Republicans voted and only a little over 20% of the Democrats voted!! Not quite the landslide you're dreaming of. Midterm elections at the most only get 60% on a real good year so this isn't to outlandish of a turnout with only 40.4%. I'm not put out by my Repblican party, why should I be. Their only mistake is not getting out to vote and you can know after the demo's screw these next 2 yrs up they will be in 2008!

  • As a Republican voter, I am very disappointed with my party right now for the very reason that they have allowed the Democrats and other liberals to shake their confidence. The have given in on many issues (the war, Immigration) and I am very dissappointed.

I voted for Bush because I liked that he had an agenda and he stuck to it and did what he thought was best for the country no matter what his critics said. Now, he has let his critics get inside his head and he is wavering on everything, with other top Repubs. following suit (like Gov. Schwarzennegger). I think that other disgusted Repubs like me are the reason his ratings are so low.

I tell them that they're extremely short-sighted. I'm slightly tot he right of Benito Mussolini, and thus was not a huge fan of President Bush the Elder, but I found him a damned sight better than the alternative presented by the Dems in 1992. Republicans who crossed the aisle last November will be asking themselves why they did so if the Comrade Speaker is successful in passing some of her plans.

republicans..... It depends on our countries leader. There are those republicans who vote bush because they stay loyal to there republican party then theres others who think twice of what kind of leader we have. I belive only 12% vote for bush.

I would say, "Yes. It's about time you sobered up, friend!"

I was a Republican a few months before the invasion of Iraq. Life is much better not having to buy into that "Killing Iraqis is the best thing for them; they will thank us for destroying their nation" crapola.

All you can say to them is they just don't get it. We win in Iraq or we will be fighting the war in the US
