Would anyone care if there were a potential cancer cure?

I'm just wondering. I've posted two questions now about "dichloroacetate", an extremely cheap, available drug with no side effects that has just been discovered as a potentially formidable treatment to most or all cancers.

I've basically received no relevant responses. I followed that up with a question about the "hottest celebrity". Everyone had an opinion.

Bonus question: why are humans so, so lame?

Of course we would care if there was a potential cancer cure! But, where in this world did you hear about it? What is the name of the drug? Who discovered it? Where can it be found?

I mean really, 'Dichloroacetate' is not a name I have heard before and with my husband going thru treatments for liver cancer, as I type, you would think someone would have mentioned it, even in passing.

What types of cancer does it claim to possibly cure? You say there are no side effects? Even aspirin has side effects! I am not attempting to be a nay sayer but, usually people answer the 'Lame' questions because they assume questions like this one are just a bunch of garbage. Especially if they have not heard about it through legitimate and trust worthy sources! Question and Answers from Yahoo, to most people, is more of a school like gossip corner, so you can't expect people to take much of anything seriously.

Okay, will look this up and learn a bit more! Thanks for the info!

I care immensely, and not only because I have lost so many to various cancers nor several who have successfully fought, and also not because I was diagnosed with cancer 5 months ago now, but also because I am a BME. This is what I went into BME for, and actually I used to be one of those people who never thought it would happen to her. But I still care about it as it has always affected my life since I was very little. it's what shaped my decision to become a BME.

As for dichloroacetate, most of what you say is fact; however, the "no side effects" is wrong, as you must also know that all drugs have side effects and some have their adverse reactions with different people. This is true of anything that is foreign to the human biology. And, your key word was "potentially". Means there are still several studies that need to take place before the drug can be okayed for regular human consumption. But you are right - most people could care less if they haven't had to deal with cancer in any direct light. Not really sure that makes humans "lame" but definitely a little shallow at times.

I could care less about celebs, and if everyone felt the same way, or at least toned it down A LOT they wouldn't be so rich. Just a thought.

I have had so many of my family pass away from all different kinds of cancer and have a couple more still dying from cancer! If there was such a miracle drug that would "cure" cancer, I would do anything to help out! Considering most of my family, and this being the major cause of death, It is not out of the rhelm of possibilities that this could be mine someday, I DEFINATELY Do care about this drug!! This needs to be seriously addressed by the FDA/Health administration field. I agree about the whole lame questions that everyone answers...lol

Having lost my mother & grandpa too cancer, I care a great deal. I don't think there will ever be a cure though. There is no money in cures, only treatments. The government and/or drug companies are not going to forego billions of dollars a year to cure people. Same with AIDs.

People are lame because most fail to realize that only they can guide their path. They wait around for someone to tell them instead of telling themselves.

In 1983 a couple of doctors suggested that bacteria was responsible for stomach ulcers, they were told their idea was preposterous, it is now widely accepted as fact. The telephone was said to be a useless invention, the electric light idiotic, and scientists made fun of the wright brothers. Recently it was teleportation that was made fun of but is now a proven technology. It is human nature, the tall poppy syndrome to try to belittle any new ideas until they are proven because it makes people feel superior.

You especially find it on places such as forums and yahoo answers because many people will just belittle anything you say no matter what because they get satisfaction out of it just like any bullies who pick on people that cant defend themselves.

People are also afraid of feeling gullible for believing anything unproven or new. Its the boy who cried wolf syndrome.

Why are humans so lame? Poor breeding; read the book its out soon

You have received no relevant responses becase your primary question is so stupid.Of course everyone would care if a potential cancer cure was found.Dichloroacetate is only one of a hundred chemicals that show some promise on certain cancers. If you would have worded your question differently, you may have gotten better answers.People see the primary question and just skip over it.

In a world that is driven by the stimulation of one of the five senses, people only care about what physically affects them.

I think people are justifiably skeptical about a cancer cure they first read about on Yahoo Answers.
