Do you believe that the Yahoo! Answers should be used to promote new movies?

no of course not. Yahoo answers is used for people who are in question of something they don't know, share knowledge or help people out of their problems. I know what you mean. I don't like it either. Film promotion is advertising and this is absurd. One of yahoo's policies is not to promote movies or anything of the sort. So help out by reporting them pls.

No, I don't feel it should. Anyone who stands to make money by posting is changing the forum (for the worse, in my opinion).

However, though you may be right, the examples you provide don't give any evidence that they're doing that, as far as I can tell. What makes you certain their purpose is the promotion of that movie?

I'm guessing it's because there are thousands of answers, which made me wonder, too. But that response is because Yahoo! Answers chose that question as one of those which gets placed at the top of the page for a while. Though they probably did so because of the timing of the movie, that doesn't mean they're *promoting* the movie -- just hitching onto it (probably more to promote themselves). Even if that's all they did, I don't like it, and I avoid those questions. (Who would read my answer anyway, when it's the 724th one down?)

There's a fine line between discussing a movie -- which anyone can do, here -- and promoting it inadvertently. Marketers and agents know that any discussion is publicity. You have to examine intent to fairly answer your question.

gosh somebody else is taking issue with the blatant promotion of that movie. wow. i totally agree. i did report that thingy as advertisement. it violates yahoo! answers community guidelines, i hope more will report it. as for your suggestion about jumping on for the free ride. it's not really a free ride. how much do you have to invest? notice the posting is backed up by an ad on every page. still yahoo! is violating their own rules.

This is NOT the place to promote businesses. They should pay for their advertising just like everyone else. If Yahoo allows businesses to promote their products on this site I will sign off and go to Goggle AMEN.

I just report the show "lost" asking the question "what do you think the creature is?" as not a real question but a promotion. Hey the way I see it, if yahoo see some question is offense because they don't like the way it sounds why not ads on yahoo.

Pay Yahoo enough money and you can Advertise in the Celebrity Question also. Just don't try to do it if you don't pay Yahoo. CAPITALISM AT IT'S BEST!! Gotta love it!

Absolutely not! The moving advertisements distract and irritate. I probably won't see the movies now.

Obviously, they can do what ever they want, but to be fair, the questions should be marked as ads and not insult the community's intelligence.
