noises under the hood?

when turning on the heat in my car, I am hearing a noise, but when I turn it off, the sound disappears. Does anyone have any idea what this is? can it be the heating coil or fan? HELP!!! By the way, the car is a Pontiac Bonneville

It could be thefan rubbing against something or the blower motor is going out.The heater coil doesn't do anything but heat up water and all it does is flow through it

A piece of paper may have fallen down in the dash hot air duct and is against the blower fan allowing a noise to occur .

I have heard instances of a blower motor going bad where it makes a "howling" sound. if you are turning on the defroster, you could be hearing the second cooling fan coming on.

when you put a load on your belts ( turn on the heater / AC ) could be the pulleys/ belts or the something around this area.

if it is a chatter sound.. might be the pulley...if it is a chrip sound... could be the belts are just not tight enough..

take it to a free inspection place... like

    Meineke

someplace like that and have them tell you
