What type of reception are you hoping to have? Fun and upbeat or romantic and relaxing?

Some nice tunes that I picked from our wedding (received many compliments, by the way) are as follows:

    Dinner music:

    Sting - Desert Rose

Billy Joel - Just the way you are

    Anything by the Gypsy Kings

Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed

Rod Stewart - You're in my soul

Anything by Sade is also great for dinner

For the dance music, it depends on what type of reception you want to have...but a great slow dance song is Sea of Love by the Honeydrippers

I tend to like more unique songs that might not be played at every single wedding...for example - no Kool in the Gang or Electric Slide - no way!

Let me know if you like any of these choices and when I get home tonight I can give you a bigger list.

  • Are you hiring a DJ? If so they may have a play list on their web page. If not go to my DJ's web page www.propsproductions.com look there & you'll find a huge list or you can search by song or artist and you can listen to the music if you have speakers. Also they have it so you can click add to list if you like the song when your done print it out and give it to your DJ. They also have a list of things like most popular wedding songs and such it will help a lot. Or just listen to like MTV and right down what you like as you go. Depending what kind of musi you like. Well i wish you luck it shoudnt be that hard. =)

Pick two songs for the entrance...one for the bridal party, and then one for you and the groom. Have fun with these, like movie theme songs or something people will chuckle at.

Pick your first dance song, and songs for the father-daughter and/or mother-son dance. If you're having any other special dances, pick those songs.

Give that the DJ, and say you want him to play off of requests for the rest of the night. That's all you need to do. If you want to, you can also pick songs for the cake cutting, garter toss, and bouquet toss, but the DJ has stock songs that he can use for these.

I would start by thinking of the genre you like, then do a general search on the internet for it. Like Disco music or 80s music. Then you can go through and see what you ike. Usually by starting off generally it opens the flood gates and then you get really into remembering all the music you used to dance to in your room when you were younger.
