Jury Duty Question?

Ok I have a question to ask about jury duty. Now I have been called before but have always been sent home, I've been summoned again, and this time its during the testing week for most of my classes in college. I realize it would be against a law for a job to discriminate against me for searving on jury duty, but does that also mean that I my instructors would be required to give me make up exams for each day that I am forced to attend?

I really can't fail this course since it has not been offered in 2 years and it is the last course I need to complete my major for my degree. Thanks in advance.

If your summons doesn't explain excusable absence, then contact the clerk of court. They'll probably put you in a batch for a later, more convenient date.

Somewhere on your jury duty notice there should be a number to call to get excused. When doing so tell then you would be glad to do it , but you have finals. Tell them when you are thru with school and would do it after that. Usually jury duty notices coincide with renewal of drivers licenses or registrations, so you may not be called again. If there is not number to call, write to them or go to the courthouse and explain your situation. Good luck

I believe that if you were to call the court and explain, they will excuse you from jury duty. They excuse many people for many different reasons and I believe this is one of them. Good luck...Please don't lower yourself to some of the other answers I have read such as claiming to belong to a racist group, that is just down right silly and immature. Be honest and you will see that the court system will excuse you. Like I said they understand such things and you will have no problem.

Take your summons to each class before you report for jury duty and I don't think you'll have a problem getting a makeup exam.

Seriously do this and you will get excused from jury duty-go in there wearing a hat with a confederate flag. You will also need a Malcom X shirt. Tell them you are a memeber of the Ku Klux Klan, Nation of Islam, al-Qadea, Jewish Defense League, Black Panthers and the women's rotary club. You will have to fill out a questionare, with questions like will anything keep you from fairly judging the case-answer yes and you belong to those groups. I want you to know, they will never call you back either. I did it once and I have not been asked back in years.

You can ask your professor for a different exam schedule. You can also write to the jury selection board to ask for a pass at this time due to extenuating circunstances. I would ask to be excused from jury selection first and if that doesn't work, go to the professor. Don't do both at the same time.

write the court and ask for a postponement, you should be granted one

if you live at college (one state) and still live at home(another state) you should be giving a postponement without question

you could always show up to court a day or two late and say you go the wrong date (most of the time you get a warning )

most college professors will help you accomodate your situation. DON'T ask to make up the exam, ask to take it a day early.

    good luck

You should be able to get a pass from jury duty if you submit the proper form, which should be attached to your summons.

Read the notice carefully. Many jurisdictions exempt full-time students from having to serve on juries.

    Ask your professors.

I'm sure they can give you make-up exams as long as you have proof that you had to serve on the test dates.
