Can cats can have herpes from a human ?

I got herpes since a few years, and I'm always careful, I never gave it (at least no to a human)...

In november, my cat got a problem on the lips, the vet gave him cortisone... But it came back in december, and now it's back again (cortisone each time, poor kitty...)

First my cat had little button on the lips, and then the lips was bigger than usual, and now sith the cortisone, it's dry.

It's the same thing when I got herpes...

That's why I was wondering if I gave my herpes to my cat. I tried to be careful, but as he always put his head near mine to have cuddles....

No, your cat can not get herpes from you.

I have four cats, two are infected with the FELINE HERPES virus.

It's not the same thing at all and I can not catch the feline form of the virus from them.

The feline virus is a respiratory kind of thing, they sneeze, cough, have runny eyes and nose and can also get very red or pink color to the whites of their eyes...like pink eye in a human.

Both of my infected cats are six years old, one has had two "outbreaks" or "flairs" and the other has only had one.

The virus can lay dormant in their bodies for years, they may never have an outbreak but one can be brought on by stress.

According to my Vet almost all cats are exposed to the virus as kittens and most of them develop an immunity to it and never get it.

My two...who are Sisters....never developed the immunity.

My Vet said they have the same life span as a cat without the virus, but I just have to watch for outbreaks and take them to the Vet of antibiotics if one occurs.

So after that very long explanation...NO you can't give your cat herpes and your cat can't give it to you.

Diseases aren't transferrable from a cat to a human or visa versa. My cat had feline HIV, and I was told not to worry about it because of that.

you cant pass herpes from cuddling with your cat. if that was the case, every person you hugged would have herpes.
