For those that don't support the action in Iraq?
Can one of you please give me your plan for getting our troops safely out, securing the democratic government in Iraq, and for further prosecuting the war on terror? The best answer WILL get the points, but you have to answer the question. Name callers need not apply.

I don't think you're going to get any real answers. They do well when it comes to whining about what's happening but they don't have a clue when it comes to doing anything about it.

They should just pack up and go home. Middle Eastern countries have no history of democracy so it is completely pointless trying to impose democracy. A democratic election will probably just return an Islamic extremist government anyway so it isn't desirable for the US. I think the US has created a bad situation it cant solve, they should just cut their losses and leave. The best way to defeat terrorism is to eliminate the causes of terrorism. The best way to do that is to force a long term solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, that along with a withdrawal from Iraq will eliminate about 80% of support for terrorism. From then on the US should not interfere at all in the middle east and should look towards alternative energy from oil. If that happens the US can easily ignore what happens in the Middle East in the same way as the West ignores most of what goes on in Africa

Pulling the troops out is a standard military procedure, you order it and the military does it, politiccians do not plan the details & the logistics of operations, thank god. Iraq will settle down sooner or later and elect their own government, but lots can be done through financial cooperation with the "preferred" side. Iraq never had anything to do with the war on terror or weapons of mass destruction or anything, so in that respect we would only have more troops to focus on the war on terror instead of securing oil for the disastrous businessman Dumbya the Bush and other criminals he's associated with. He has killed 3100 Americans for his business plan, and even if it all succeeds, he will still ruin it like any other business effort he made.

Well the situation is complicated: on one hand is the fact that if Americans get all the troops out all those lives that were lost would have been lost in vain, however if Americans send even more troops there's a huge risk that even more lives will be lost, maybe not in vain at the end, but they will be lost too.
In short, I just think that's better that troops would be removed, and embrace the defeat, just as happened in Vietnam, I just wish this massacre of Americans and Iraqis would be finished, and most of all that this President of yours would have never been born. I'm just praying for the appearance of an scandal the kind of Watergate's, in order to remove this president, who in my opinion has been one of the worst thing that has happened to this country ever.
Didn't you people already have Hussein executed?? Perfect, now let those people alone, let them solve their problems by themselves, as an independent nation.
Prosecuting the war on terror?? americans are the one who are spreading terror through a whole nation, and notice that 9/11 wasnt the work of the entire Iraqui people. I refused to, but now I'm begging to believe too that Bush helped 9/11 to happen, and therefore he had a motive to start a war, in order to seek more power and God knows what else.

The situation in Iraq is only going to improve if the different groups (Shia, Sunni, Kurds etc) are able to get to the negotiating table with someone brokering the talks who is completely impartial, or as far as it's possible to be in the current climate, i.e. not US or UK or anyone else with an interest in the area. A difficult one but it is the only hope of a breakthrough. Sadly a great amount of damage has been done by Saddam persecuting Shia Muslims, Kurds etc. which will take time to repair.
Troops should be withdrawn. Their presence is making the situation worse, not better. Replace these with people (from other countries than US or UK or any other country in the coalition) with genuine commitment to rebuilding the country - homes, schools, hospitals, infrastructure, etc.
The 'War on Terror' is doomed from the start. People willing to kill themselves and others for the cause they believe in, or the grievance they hold, are not going to be deterred by having war declared on them.
Better to find out the reasons why people do such things and work to remove the causes of them.

1 you will never have a democratic government there. only a puppet regime .
2 We will never leave there because the Iraq people are uncouple of defending there own.
3 Bush has a agenda which is far beyond what he states.
4 We will not leave because we support Israel.
Your Republicans never seem to ask questions just go blindly into the mess that Bush has for you. Democrats always question that is why you people hate us so much we don't tow the party line. You really believe Bush. We have positioned ourselves there now this president or next it would have happened but Bush would have young men killed for his agenda which is big business. he really does not care about you or me just what he can gain here

The real terror threat is in our inner cities, not in the Middle East. We are murdering each other by the thousands. Ignore the Middle East---it will take care of itself and who cares how they do it. The Russians proved that they could not handle things over there, so we have nothing to worry about. Israel has nuclear weapons, so we do not have to worry about Israel. It is time that we be concerned about home for a change.

Intervention "should" be the last resort to all conflicts. "We" or those that intervene never become the good guy. The cost is too great. History explains very well from Vietnam, they now are entering the world market "with out" our molding of there country. We should live and learn, God may have a better idea.

There was a whole report by the Iraq Study Group which answers your question.

I think anyone that buys into this idea of a democratic government in Iraq is only fooling themselves, it is a fantasy of ours, not necessarily theirs

well, sine I was in the first gulf war, let me say this:
I would have stuck with the containment plan that was working so successfully.
PS , that was a Clinton plan put in action, and has the support of the former president bush.
how bout them apples?
