Husbands back "went out"?

My husband was trying to move his snowmobile, when he felt a pop in his lower back and his legs buckled. He is in major pain and can't even walk, barely crawl. I know lot's of people have their backs go out, so just wondering if he should go to the doctor and what would the doctor be able to do for him? Or should he just rest for a few days, and see a chiropractor?

I have personally had a lot of problems with my back which was due to an impact fall which curved my spine. I went to the doctors who referred me to the hospital at which point they took an x ray and because nothing was broken sent me home. Anyways my best advise is hot and cold compresses which will ease tension and make sure your husband does not stay in one position for too long but to keep moving as painful as it because it will stop his back freezing up and therefore becoming more painful. Tell him to rest for a couple of days and if nothing has improved i advise a physio i went and within 3 sessions my back was fine. Good Luck and i hope your husband feels better soon!

doctors can't do nothing but shoot him up with drugs, which will be temporary relief. I have a bad lower back also but his could be way different than mine, my pain goes away after a few day's of laying on my back and taking it easy, he needs to be more careful of how he lifts things, of coarse I'm sure he already knows to lift with his legs but one little mess up can get ya he was probably moving to fast and not thinking. Chiropractors some times can make peoples backs worse. So see what happens after a few day's he might have a couple jolts of pain but he really needs to take it easy.

I had the same thing happen to me and all i was doing was tying a cushion onto a chair in the dining room. Basically all I did for it was rest for a couple days with a heating pad under my back and it went away on it's own.

I think he lifted something heavy while at the sametime he was trying to get up..let him have a time for himself..becuase this kind of pain goes away by itself most of times.

Source(s): It happened to me before too, And it went away by itself.
