Should I feed my cat 2x's a day instead?
My male cat refuses to eat dry food, and I feed him at 5:30, as soon as I get home from work. I give him a full can of food and he seems to get full from that. But lately at around 7am Snuggles will sit in front of my bedroom door crying constantly for about 45 minutes until I get up. When I go to look if he had no food or water it turns out that he has plenty of both.
Do you think that I should feel Snuggles another can of cat food in the morning too now before I go to work? Or maybe give him half the can in the morning and the other half after work?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, cats must be fed 2 or 3 times per day. I would personally feed him half in the morning, a quarter at 5.30 and a quarter just before you go to sleep, so that he is not hungry in the morning.Oh, and they don't eat the canned food once it ahs been opened for many hours!

I think you should split the can - 5.5 oz can, half in AM and half at PM (early evening).
I was told early on in my cat experience to NEVER leave the meat in the can and I always transfer it to a pyrex dish to save for the second feeding. If you open a can in the AM, put half in the dish and cover with plastic or foil. It does not have to be refrigerated if you serve the remainder in the evening. That's barring very high temperatures in your house. If you refrigerate it it is easy to put the dish into a pan of hot water for a few minutes to raise the meat to room temperature.
Use a good quality of canned food - I use Wellness, Lick Your Chops, Avoderm, Innova and Natural Balance. My three male cats eat all of these in rotation. I do not use the fishy varieties except maybe once a week as fish is not the best for urinary tract health. My cats are not addicted to fish taste anyway so those are not favorites by any means. Those products are very intense meat and I also add a teaspoon of filtered water to each serving for extra moisture.

How old is your cat? Has he been checked out to make sure his teeth are okay? I am asking this because of cats have bad teeth, abcess, etc. they are not going to want to eat the dry food.
What brand of cat food are you feeding him - canned and dry.
I agree that feeding him twice a day is ideal and splitting the canned food portions. Is it possible that you could mix some dry food in with his evening canned food?
That way he will have to eat some of the dry food and maybe it will satisfy him until morning.

I have 3 cats who used to sit outside my door and cry til I got up to feed them. I gave them half a can in the morning and half in the evening but they'd cry for more even though dry food was always down. I got fed up of this as they realised that waking me up earlier and earlier as rthe weeks got on guaranteed me feeding them as they knew I'd get up incase the crying woke my young son. In the end I decided to stop all wet food as they were just being spoilt. They always turned their noses up at dry food so I assumed they didn't like it but if I put my foot down and ignored the crying, they'd eat it. It took about 2 weeks for thjem to realise they weren't gonna get the wet food , and the crying stopped. They eat the dry food with no problems now. The problem with cats is that they are very intelligent and know how to get what they want. The danger is giving it to them at your own expense, hence being woken up at five am! They need to eat at least twice a day as they only eat til they are full. Unlike dogs who need limitation as they will eat for the sake of eating.

Leaving wet food out for over 6 hours can lead to cats getting upset stomachs... Green kitty dihoreah isn't pleasant, and you should do EVERYTHING you possibly can to avoid it.
Feed your cat half the tin before work, and the other half when you get home.

My cat is fussy about how long his food has been out for. The wet cat food seems to dry up real quick so yes I would give him half a can in the mornings and half a can when you get home from work. Thats the way I do it with my cat and it works out.
