How come Theist always say Atheists try to convert people, technically wouldn't an Atheists deconvert someone?

Update:

By the way I know deconvert isn't a real word. Just roll with though.

*laugh* An atheist would only open ones eyes to reality.

That is a strange assertion. I've never tried to convert anyone (or deconvert). To the point were my children were in high school before they realized I was an atheist. They were raised Catholic. They just assumed I wasn't Catholic.

I suspect most atheists are like this. Some taunt theists, probably to strike back at all the prejudice, hatred, and verbal attacks we endure for not believing in a deity.

a million. Um, once you're talking about debates on R&S, then you definitely won't be able to communicate louder. it really is a bunch of letters, no longer sounds. 2. fairly a lot everybody in this area interrupts. Theists don't have a monopoly on rudeness. 3. Asking questions is a sturdy element. and that i have said that fairly some circumstances atheists ask more advantageous questions, which isn't an insult to them- questioning is robust. 4. end generalizing. in case you take advantage of the be conscious "continuously", then you definitely're likely making an unfaithful and stupid statement.

Atheists don't try to convert or "deconvert" anybody. Ever seen an Atheist going to door-to-door saying "Hello, Sir. I'd like to tell you that God does not exist"?

Linguistically you are right, but I've never had an atheist knock on my door before dawn on a Sunday morning.

That's an interesting way to think of it. I do not believe that Athiests try to "de-convert" people like Theists convert people (i.e. evangelism).

Since "convert" simply means "to change over", such a change could go in either direction.

    Technically- yes

not that atheists actually try to do that

I don't think atheists try to do either. They just try to get people to think for themselves and decide on their own what to believe. Without letting religious brainwashing do it for them.
