For Marylanders: What do you consider a traditional MD food besides crabs & oysters?

We're having out-of-state guests next week and I wanted to serve some "traditional" maryland meals. Crabcakes are a given, but I can't afford seafood everynight. So are there any other traditional dishes that I could make to welcome my guests to Maryland?

Not really. If I had to say one it would be steak. We Marylanders love steak.

I'm not from Maryland, but how about serving a crab/lobster/seafood chowder with a nice salad? Soup is cheaper to make than individual major meat portions. Also, whenever I think of Maryland, I actually think of a London Broil. Not sure why that is, but I do. Another thing you might consider...where are your guests from? Would they serve you foods from their state exclusively if you were visiting? It's a nice gesture, but I don't think you need to spend the entire weekend giving them a taste of Maryland. How about crab cakes one night, and a nice steak bbq the next, etc. Really, it's the company that's important. I'm sure no matter what you serve them, they will be just as pleased. Good luck. Hope this helps.
