I'm trading in my car for a new one... what do i need to take to the dealership?
I'm driving about an hour and a half to look at a car I'm pretty certain that I'll end up buying. What else do I need to take besides the car I'm trading in and my insurance card? I will have the title too.

Some vaseline. You'll get less than half what you could get selling it on a 3 day ebay auction with no reserve.

Just say no and don't do it. The value of your car is worth 10 to 20% more if you sell it yourself vs trading in the car. It doesn't take long, just detail it yourself as best you can and advertise on Craigslist and put a sign in the window.

Take your title
take proof of residence at least two forms of mail like utilities or phone bill or both
take your last three most recent pay stubs
They may want proof of something you pay on like a credit card statement
Insurance information - including your agent's name and phone number, they may want to confirm your full coverage insurance.
Take any proof of source of income you intend on using toward your credit.
Yes, maintenance records are good to ensure a good trade in.
If you do need something extra, they may allow you to send or fax it to them. If your credit checks out.
Source(s): Bought a car about a year ago. I wasn't prepared when I went and I lived about 50 miles from the dealership. I was allowed to get all of my account information on line. - Wax CrayonLv 41 decade ago
The vehicle registration documents, especially the bit you have to transfer to the new owner. (V5C if memory serves correctly).
The MOT certificate and service history.
But you probably should call the dealership to check too. They may want other bits and pieces.

Past maintenance records would be a plus. Other than that just the title.

yes, take the title and the registration. I hope you are getting a new Ford product, but if not, I still hope you enjoy it.
