Should a company send flowers to a funeral for the death of an employee's immediate family member?
Company has 300-400 employees. Over the years, many employees have had deaths in the family; parents, siblings, grandparents, children and spouses... the company does not send cards or flowers. Sometimes the other employees will put money together to buy an arrangement or send a card... it seems as if other companies do this to show respect to the valued employees and their families. Do you think this is true or are we out of line to think this ought to be done? We have an employee in our department who's mother passed away and the wake/funeral are tomorrow and the next day... there has been some argument about what should be done.

2 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoGirls name... need help with middle name!?
I am on bedrest and due to have our third baby girl at anytime now... We really like the first name Cara (Care-uh - not Car-uh) but are having trouble with the middle name. His grandmother's name was Lillian, which I love but I don't think it "flows" well. We have thought about Leanna or Leanne. Our first two daugthers are Mia Catherine and Taylor Ann. Family names were used for their middle names. Any suggestions on something that would be pretty? We have a long Italian last name so the first names always need to be somewhat simple. If you want to suggest any other first names that we can throw in there at the last minute, I wouldn't care either. Thanks!
26 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoI need the name of this book.?
When I was in nursing school, our instructor used a book with illustrations of different diseases. They were very basic pictures and were in black and white. The symptoms were "drawn" on the people... like a copd patient with a barrel chest would have an actual barrel around his chest. I am helping another nursing student study and would like for her to find this book. I know that I had seen it at border's once before but now I can't find it on Amazon. Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoSlimy gross thing hanging from the kitchen faucet??? What is it???
Recently, I was at my sister's house and we noticed this slimy looking, clear glob (kind of looked like snot) hanging from the faucet in her kitchen... she is very clean and also, she had been using the sink as usual- it hadn't been turned off for a long time or anything. Then, at work yesterday- about 3 hours away from her house- we have 2 sinks in 2 different exam rooms. They had the same thing!!! Again- this is a physician's office, so it is cleaned everynight... it is not from being dirty. One was clear greenish-gray and the other was almost black. This is so gross!!! What is it and how do you get it to stop???
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoMy boss is about to turn 50. I need some gift ideas.?
He is a physician and I am his primary nurse. We are all throwing a surprise party for him and I need to get him something. He really enjoys wines and would like to get him a nice bottle but I know very little about wine. Could someone advise me in this area? Let me know if you know of any other ideas as well. I want to stay in the 40-50 dollar range. Thanks!
7 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoI'm trading in my car for a new one... what do i need to take to the dealership?
I'm driving about an hour and a half to look at a car I'm pretty certain that I'll end up buying. What else do I need to take besides the car I'm trading in and my insurance card? I will have the title too.

2 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoHow do I get people to stop questioning me...i don't have an eating disorder.?
I am getting so frustrated at work. I am in my 20's, I work and go to school full time, I am happily married with 2 children. Somehow, in this crazy life, I find time to exercise regularly. I am at a healthy weight for my height- 115lb 5'4". Everyday, the women in my office ask me what I weigh, if I have lost more weight, tell me that I look too thin, etc. I just tell them that I haven't lost anything and that I'm at a healthy weight... one woman even goes as far as telling me what kinds of problems I will have if I continue to starve myself. They watch what I eat like hawks. I usually have soup or a salad and occasionally I'll eat something else. I have a really busy job... I don't have time to snack. I absolutely do not have an eating disorder. I did lost 40 lbs about 5 years ago to get to where I am now with weight watchers but they didn't even know me then. What can I do to make them stop- it makes me miserable. There are even rumors going around that I'm bulemic.
9 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoIs the time displayed on a cell phone always correct?
I do know that mine changes when I change time zones. I have been told that cell phone times are sent by satelite and that they are always correct. Is this true? I need to know because I am upset that a government office closed early today by 15 minutes. They state that their clock is correct but another patron and myself both have cell phones that said differently. Just wondering if what I heard is right.
4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoDo my young children need passports?
Now that everyone needs to have a passport to fly within the US I have started to wonder. Even if my husband and I do have passports, do we need to get them for our 1 yr old and 3 yr old too?
12 AnswersPacking & Preparation1 decade agoJoining curves?
I am thinking about joining curves... the thing is, I don't need to lose weight- I just need to tone up. I am at a healthy weight but I just don't have the muscle strength that I should. I would just like to learn how to do some strength training and would like to do aerobic exercise and feel like I would be more comfortable at Curves with other women. Is this the right place for me? Someone told me that it was just for people trying to lose weight and that I should just join a regular gym.
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow to respond that my boss didn't get me a gift?
I work in a medical office. Every year for the holidays, the doctors in our office go in together to buy all of the nurses the same gift (most of the doctors are of a different religion but want to give us something anyway) they spend about 10 dollars a piece for each nurse- there are 6 of us. This year, we all got small lotion sets that were very nice. But, each doctor then went and bought something extra for each of their individual nurses (one nurse got a $200 gift certificate, and several others received certificates for over $100). I was the only nurse who did not receive anything else from my doctor (he does not celebrate Christmas either but I did buy him a very nice holiday gift) I spend many extra hours there working for him and have been like his personal asst for 2 years- I do everything for him. I hate that I am upset about this- I mean, he did do the lotion set, I think I just thought that he would get me something special for all of my hard work. Am I wrong?
14 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoNurses- any tricks on how to stick an iv everytime?
I work as a nurse in an infusion clinic. I am getting better by the day at getting my IV's started but need some helpful hints if you have any... there are some nurses who almost never miss or blow a vein but it gets so busy sometimes that there isn't much time for explanation or help. Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Education1 decade agosoaked carpet... please read.?
I had a leak in our bathtub the other night (that has since been fixed)... in the next room though, there was a large water spot in the middle of the floor... at first I thought my daughter had spilled something not connecting the two. Today, the large water spot has grown to cover about 3 feet of area. It is completely soaked... I have a fan blowing on it but it isn't helping. First- do you think that the bathtub leak would have caused this and second- how do I dry the carpet- it is starting to smell musty already... please help!!! thanks.

10 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoAnyone from Dallas? What is there to do there?
I am going to Dallas this weekend for a convention. I have never been there so I booked my flight for a day early so I could at least do something while I'm there. What are some fun things to do (I'll be by myself) ? By the way- what is the weather like right now? I need to know how to dress. Thanks!
5 AnswersDallas1 decade agoHow to get rid of water retention- from eating too much salt?
Yesterday- Thanksgiving, I ate WAY too much salty food. Today I feel very bloated and puffy... my rings won't come off my fingers, my pants feel very tight, and my eyes feel like they are going to swell shut- I have been chugging water all day long but with little relief... what else can I do?
9 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoAre these still "in"?
I want to wear my doc martens for our casual jean day at work tomorrow. They are from 1998- they have two straps that buckle at the side- sort of a flat mary jane style- brown. They do not have as thick of a sole as some of the other older doc martens. Are these still in style or am I going to look totally out of it?
