My lower back hurts so bad!!!!!?

My lower back hurts to do anything. The pain is right above my butt crack. I cant hardly move it hurts so bad. What is wrong with me?

Update:

When I sit down I get a SHARP pain all the way down both of my legs!

Update 2:

I excersize and stretch everyday! I play fastpitch softball so i am constantly moving. I dont ever lift anything heavy! It has been like this for a while. The pain just keeps getting worse. It hurts to stand up straight.

you totally have phyadica (really bad spelling sori) it's a common back problem that can get much worse un treated, the pain starts where you said and goes to your knees and ankles yeh? you need a physio to give you some stretches (generally stomach exercise as it's caused from a weak tummy and weak pelvic muscles) and possibly some sessions with them to work on the pain, you'll notice heaps of improvement. Also if you carry a wallet in your back pocket and frequently sit on it your not helping. Im 23 and my dad 54, we both suffer badly although since my last doc im way better. Try not to sit or stand too long, keep active and the pain will subside, if it's waking you thru the night and you're unable to move you really should go to a quack, i promise you'll feel way better before the start of may. OH, be careful with which physio you see if you decide to go, one my dad went to had him in agony cause he did the wrong things, some doctors suck so if you feel worse afterwards don't go back, find a good one

It appears that you may have herniated a disk in your lower spinal cord.... the best thing to do is go see a doctor, and you will get an mri and xray to see the severity of it. If that is not an option for you, I would recommend that you sleep with a pillow under your thighs (or between your legs if you sleep on your side), stretch everyday (slowly at first), crunches to strengthen your lower back, and walk for about 30 minutes per day. The pain will get better after a few weeks of this, just keep up with it.

I don't know your full history, but I suggest you see a chiropractor who will take your history as well as perform a few tests and take x-rays. With radiating pain this is probably from pinched nerves. (An injury to your coccyx could not cause radiating pain.) The pinched nerves could be from a spinal misalignment or from a disc bulge or both. You may also need an MRI to confirm whether or not it is a problem with your disc. Depending on the severity of the disc problem, you may benefit from conservative chiropractic care first. Chiropractic care has helped in many cases of a disc bulge and can save people from costly surgery. However, some cases do require surgery. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here, we don't know what your problem is, but I would start by going to a chiropractor.

From what you are saying, It appears that you have injured your coccyx (tail bone). Sometimes this can happen and you will not know it until later when the pain starts. These injuries can be very painful, and unfortunately there is little that can be done other than taking an analgesic for pain.

If you have no medical conditions that will interfere with an analgesic, I would suggest taking Aleve or Advil for pain. It will take several weeks to heal. If your condition worsens, then I would suggest consulting your doctor.

It sounds like a fractured coccyx bone & the only thing to help it is pain medicine ! You'll have to get the round cushion that is made for this injury...

Two people answer and you get two different explanations. Perfect reason to see a doctor... I have had chronic back pain and sciatica for 14 years. Please, if you are in so much pain, go see a doctor soon. Your back it too valuable to ignore. Best wishes.

I had something like that, it was my sciatic nerve. You can tell if it is nerve pain, it just feels different. If the pain is going down the back of your legs when you bend down then it could be sciatic nerve also i had bursitis and had pain like that. i had the epidural cortizone injections and it worked very well

you may have damaged your coccyx .the bone just above your bottom. visit your g p .you may need to have an x-ray and to get painkillers and physio to learn how o bend and lift etc, good luck.
