Handed in my Notice at Work?
I have handed my notice in after 4 years of working for them, and everyone's being a **** about it. Do I have to put up with this? I'm leaving due to lies and bullying, job title changing without notice, and my boss thinks he's gods gift to the world (and looks like Uncle Fester). Any suggestions what to do? My bloods boiling, and I'm really close to smashing his face! Help!!!
Thanks for your notes and support so far. I actually have 3½ days holiday to take, but they wont let me take them. To explain their reason: 5 carried over from last year, I have 6 for this year, totalling 11 days, I've already taken 7½, leaving 3½ days left, but they want to pay me for it (deducting tax) instead, because they say no one else can do my job!

Just put up with it :-( Not really anything else you can do. Don't do anything stupid like smashing anyone's face in; you may need a reference at some point!!! Plus you'll be in trouble with the police! Just ignore them, count the days until you leave, etc ...
With regard to the holiday, now that you're actually working your notice period, they don't have to let you take it. But just wondering ... what is your actual entitlement? By law, you have to take four weeks per year and should not have been allowed to carry anything over if your entitlement is only four weeks. However, any entitlement over and above the four weeks could have been carried over. So, if you didn't even get four weeks last year, might be worth talking to someone in HR or going to the CAB about it. Especially since you mentioned about lies and bullying ... you might even have a case for constructive dismissal (not that I can really advise without knowing in any further detail what's been going on).
I find your situation quite interesting because I am about to move jobs internally. I love the company that I work for, but my manager is a dick and I don't like the job. However, now that my days are numbered, he has become much nicer, constantly tells me what a good job I am doing, etc etc. I find that weird. Your situation sounds far more normal.

Unless you have some sort of contract with them that prevents you from doing so, there is nothing from preventing you from leaving now and not working for the remainder of your notice period.
A two-week notice is courtesy, not an obligation. If the work environment is as toxic as you describe, you may actually be doing your employer a favor by ending the relationship now (rather than finishing out your notice and ending up having some sort of confrontation).
If you do decide to leave before the date you originally specified in your notice, it would probably be best to tell your employer in the afternoon that you will not be coming back the next day (but do stay until the end of that day). At this point, I can't imagine that there will be much love lost (since there didn't seem to be much love to begin with).
Obviously, this plan is contingent on your being able to financially afford not working for a week or two. Do you have unused accrued vacation days? Now may be a good time to use them!
I wish you the best of luck getting out of this bad work environment.

do you work in the UK?
if you do, take the company to a tribunal for constructive dismissal, which means they made it impossible for you to work there. lies and bullying, is unacceptable in any workplace....I take you do mean them, and not you doing the lying and bullying?

Maintain your dignity and don't stoop to their level. You have done the sensible thing and got out - just stick out your notice period and you will be rid of them.
