Why is it that many Christians cannot ask or answer a question without ...?
quoting scripture after scripture?????
I know when I see them, I skip them entirely other than to thumbs down them. If a scripture is what is asked for, then it is different, but to quote 17 scriptures when a simple yes or no will suffice? Why do that??
Umm... for those that are bashing me... I did not say all Christians, I said many.
Here is an example: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhDML...
To TG... Religion and Spirituality does not mean just Christian beliefs. So scripture is not always called for.
Latter_Rain: Every question does not demand scripture. And it most certainly does not require 3 or 4 of them. If I wish scriptural answers, I will ask for them. To shove them down my throat is to have me choke off the answer or question entirely.

I can answer questions without needing to quote scripture. Sometimes quoting scripture is needed, quoting scripture can help aide your questions but also I don't pull out scripture if the question is not a Spiritual/Religion question, that is just odd to do that. Not really needed either.

I do not quote scripture (mainly because I do not have a great memory basis for it). And I try to avoid quoting scriptures to people simply because it can turn them off of hearing about it. Nor am I usually the one to bring up the conversation. I also do sometimes find it annoying when people start quoting scriptures to back up a simple answer UNLESS your in a debate and you need to back it up, then one or two versus fine, but a zillion and ten is too much. for me.

Quoting scripture is s way for us to prove that what we are answering is biblical and not just opinion. However there are some of us that do not always quote scripture during our answers, I will 95% of the time wait to be asked for specific quotes before I start quoting.
Cool?...

For some Christians, the scriptures are the final word on their faith and beliefs; for some, its the ONLY word. So when they feel they need to offer proof, they quote scripture.
Why not a simple yes or no? I can only guess that some people want to always explain WHY they answer "yes" or "no."

I answer the vast majority of questions without quoting scripture. Partly because I know that it holds as much validity for atheists/ non-Christians as Harry Potter does for me.
And partly because I'm horrible at chapter and verse.

One, I am a Christian and don't quote the Bible ALL the time. It isn't a genetical drawback nor are folks born like that. Two, I am nonetheless younger and feature no longer memorized a complete lot of the Bible. To reply your query, sure they are able to speak like usual folks however to cite the Bible is displaying that there's evidence to again up what they are pronouncing.

iam not a christian but i do believe in god but i have never quoted a scripture when answering a question unless someone asks for scripture. and please dont stereotype people who believ in god. christianity is a branch of creationism that is totally out of whack. they mainly relie on what the church says and thats all they know so that is why they constantly quote scriptures.

If the question is asked in the Religion & Spirituality area, then the answer should be religious and spiritual as well, hence the scriptures.

Mostly because we don't make up our rules as we go along we rely on the Word of God for instruction and therefore rely on the Bible as the answer for questions posed by others. 2Timothy 3:16-17 However, it is good to be conversant in Biblical matters so we can explain the passages to those who don't know the Bible.
